Fill & Stroke in Inkspace
Hi all I need some help please, my eyes are not so good, so I cut with a pair of readers and use an illuminated magnifying glass. A friend of mine prepared a pdf pattern for before our relocation where the Infill was 50% gray and the Stroke was Black .5 thickness ( I like using Red but I don’t have a A3 printer so Ineed to have my pattern printed at the print shop, the problem I have is as soon as you tell them it’s twovolorthe charge you the color price which is three times more expensive than
Blue Macaw
This was supposed to be a Christmas present for my neighbor and his wife for this past Christmas! I started it about 2 weeks ago and gave it to them yesterday. They loved it. He told me that before they moved in next doors 27 years ago, they used to have birds. He said at one time they used to have 16, all different types but never a Blue Macaw. The plans are from The Winfield Collection. I used just plain old 2"x10" and 1"x8" materials. My wife did all of the painting. Lots of sanding i
Bowl Question
In an effort to expand my scrolling activities I picked up Carole Rothman's book "Scroll Saw Wooden Bowls". The one my wife picked out calls for ⅝ stock. The rings are cut at 23 degrees. Now I'm wondering if I go with ¾ stock would the 23 degree angle cut still apply? If not what would I change to. The reason for ¾ as opposed to ⅝ is a drum sander is still on my wish list and I don't seem to be able to find ⅝ stock. Everything is either ½ or ¾. Chris
To all of my SSV friends...............
I'm sure that those of you who have followed any of my posts over the years have started seeing a change in some of my latest replies or posts. I do sincerely apologize if I offended anybody. It was not my intent, I guarantee you. There are some behind the scenes things going on in my and my wife's lives right now that have weighed heavily on both of us. The worst of which is that she fell a couple of weeks ago and broke her femur to the extent that they had to replace the ball at the top. Needl
Really bad experience with White Limba lumber
Just curious if anyone else has worked with White Limba wood. I went to Woodcraft in Birmingham Alabama and they have a large bin of cut-offs that are $2 a pound. It had a lot of quarter sawn White Limba, which I'd never heard of. It looked great for portraits and I bought just over 60 pounds thinking I wouldn't have to buy any wood for a year. 🤪 It's so hard I broke about 6 drill bits and a dozen blades on my first small project, plus I've been really sick with sinus and chest congestion for 5
Spring Welcome Sign
Made this for my flower loving wife for Spring for our front porch. It's about 12" X 20". I'm not sure of the wood type. It looks like oak but it's light as balsa wood and is quite strong. The pattern is from a stencil I bought on Etsy.
