Two Truths & A Lie:

Quote:

  1. March is a big month! Daylight Savings is March 10. Saint Patrick's Day is March 17th. March Madness also starts on March 17th. The first day of spring is March 19th. And lastly, Easter is March 31st! Whew! So instead of picking one to celebrate, we'll open it up to whatever March means to you. Is it green beer? Digging in the garden? Basketball and nachos? Or are they brightly dyed eggs? Post your March scroll saw projects here. It'll be fun to see what you come up with to celebrate March.
  2. Christmas is over and we start a new year. Whenever January rolls around, I often reflect on the previous year. I like to think of the special memories, accomplishments, and time I spend with my hobbies. So this month's challenge, think back to what you created this year and post your favorite scroll saw project. Let us know a little bit about it. Why was it your favorite? Was it a gift for someone? What was it for? I always enjoy the stories behind the project. Can't wait to see your favorite project!
  3. When I was a kid, one of my favorite things was making our Valentine's boxes in school so our classmates could put in Valentine's cards. It was so much fun to go through and see what cards your classmates got you. So for me, Valentine's Day isn't only about romantic love. It's also about showing the people in your life how much you appreciate them. A time to check in with friends, both old and new. Connect with family just to say you're thinking of them. A little special something for the kids or grandkids to say "I love you." Post a project you made for your sweetheart, a good friend, or someone in your family to show how much you care. It's open to interpretation, so get creative. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  4. This is the easiest scroll saw challenge yet! Post your most recent project. That's it! No theme other than your last project. It'd be fun to see what folks are working on. When you post, tell us why or who you are making it for. It's always nice to hear the story behind a project.
  5. I don't know about where you live, but it's been dark and dreary with terrible weather where I'm at. I'm ready for some spring weather and some bright colors. So this month's scroll saw challenge is all about color. Post your projects where you play with color. This can be with paints, stains, dyes, sprays, markers, decoupage, or different colors of woods. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  6. I was looking through our past scroll saw challenges, looking for a new December challenge. I found it strange that even though we push Holiday Ornaments, with our Ornaments For Charity ebook and Personalized Ornament kits, we have never done an actual Ornament scroll saw challenge! So this month, let's show off those ornaments! Post a few pictures of your scrollsaw ornaments. It would be fun to see what you've made. Tell us a little bit about them while you're at it. We'd even love to see them on the tree! Happy Holidays! Let's have some fun!
  7. Spooky season is over, and now we're in the mode of Thanksgiving. I always thought of this time of year as a transition time, where we can slow down from our summer adventures and back-to-school routines. Where we can reflect on friends, family, and all of the things we are thankful for. So this month's scroll saw challenge is about Thanksgiving. Different countries celebrate Thanksgiving (or a form of) at different times of the year. But the sentiment is the same: Counting our blessings and enjoying the company of our loved ones. Post a project that means Thanksgiving to you. Is it a centerpiece for the dinner table where you enjoy a carefully prepared meal for your friends and family? Is it a scenic project or portrait of old farm equipment that is iconic of a bountiful harvest? Maybe they're hand turkeys you made with the kids? It is completely open to interpretation. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  8. "We did the Mash! The Monster Mash!" This is my favorite scroll saw challenge...the Halloween Challenge! This year's theme is Monster Mash! Share your monster and spooky Halloween projects! From movie monsters, cartoon monsters, or things that are creepy and go bump in the night. Anything Halloween related goes! I can't wait to see your monstrous projects!
  9. I went to the big box store to pick up a couple of things and I saw this guy with a long salt-and-peppered beard and a bright tie-dye t-shirt. He looked like he stepped straight out of Woodstock. When I got home, I looked up Woodstock. I guess it was August 15-18, 1969. It was meant to be a 3-day music festival, but it certainly turned into a symbol of the era. So, I thought it would be fun to do a scroll saw challenge about peace, love, and everything groooovy. Like the other scroll saw challenges, it is open to interpretation. From hippies to VW vans, peace signs to bubble letters, music icons or just some funky project you made. Have fun with it! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  10. We all know Steve Good from Scroll Saw Workshop. He's arguably the most prolific, and most well known pattern designers in the scrolling community. He's turned out so many great patterns on a nearly daily basis. His free pattern library will keep an average scroller busy for years! Plus, he's very generous when sharing his knowledge and advice. I think it's safe to say that most scrollers that have been around for a short bit have cut one or more of his patterns. So I think this month's scroll saw challenge is to post a project you cut with a Steve Good pattern. When you do, post a little backstory about your project. Why did you choose that design? Who did you make it for? It'll be fun to see what you come up with! Are you looking for a project? Browse his free Pattern Catalog here: https://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php
  11. I really enjoyed the new Indiana Jones movie. It was a great ride full of adventure and action. July is the time for summer blockbusters, with lots of action flicks and superheroes. So this month's scroll saw challenge's theme is Heroes. This will be open to interpretation. From everyday heroes like nurses, firefighters, and military, to superheroes of the silver screen. Post your hero projects! I can't wait to see them!
  12. June is here. My favorite time of year. I really enjoy getting outside and enjoying the warmer weather. (I'd imagine it's not quite the same in the southern hemisphere, though ). So this month's scroll saw challenge is about the outdoors. Post a project that is related to whatever you think of when you think "outdoors." For me, it's camping, hiking, and enjoying mother nature. For others, it might be backyard BBQs and picnics. Maybe where you are, you're polishing up your skis to play in the snow! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  13. May is here and the flowers are blooming, the birds are out, and nature is springing to life. This is one of my favorite times of the year. So this month's scroll saw challenge is called Spring Flowers. I'd love to see some of your floral projects! This can include flowers, wildlife, birds, butterflies, etc. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  14. So in my family, we have 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Our pets outnumber the people in our house. With the weather getting nicer, the dogs want to spend more outside, and our cats love watching the bird feeder outside of our window. So this month's scroll saw challenge is about our furry little friends. Dogs, cats, birds, snakes, hamsters, etc. Post a pic of a project related to pets. It can be a pet portrait, dog leash holder, treat jar, or whatever. I can't wait to see what y'all come up with!
  15. This month's scroll saw challenge is about Easter! Post your Easter projects here and tell us a bit about it! This is open for interpretation: Toys for the Kids Easter Baskets Candy holders Easter decor Bunnies...bunnies...and more bunnies. Bowls, place settings, napkin rings, centerpieces, etc for Easter Dinner Religious/Faith based projects Good Friday related Or just to celebrate spring! I can't wait to see what you come up with. If anybody is looking for some Easter projects, we have a few in the Project Workshop.
  16. It's February, and Love is in the air! This one is open to interpretation Post a project you are making for your sweetheart! Or how about a project showcasing something you love? Something like a pet portrait, your favorite car, recreational activity? Whatever you love, is fair game. When you post, tell us a little about it.
  17. Spring is in the air and our furry little friends are coming out to play. This month's challenge is all about the critters in our lives. Share a project of bunnies, puppies, and anything else that make you saw "awww." Post your animal projects below. When you do, please tell us a little something about it. While we love seeing your handiwork, it's the backstory that makes it special. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  18. Halloween is over, now we're into November. This time of year always reminds me of big meals with the family with Thanksgiving and Christmas. We'd break out our nice tablecloths, dishes, and silverware. Then we'd share a meal with the family. So I this scroll saw challenge is about the table. It's pretty open to interpretation. But anything you'd use for sharing a meal with your family, table decoration, or personalization. So these could be things like trivets, napkin holder, name card holders, centerpieces, serving items, etc. When you post, maybe tell us a little family tradition you have. It'll be fun to see what you come up with.
  19. Summer is in full swing! Time for some summertime projects. Post your project that is either used for summertime actives, summer themed, outdoors, or vacations. It's pretty open to interpretation, so have fun with it. When you post, tell us a little bit about the project and why you made it. I always love seeing the stories behind the project.
  20. I just put up a bird feeder outside my office window and I'm patiently waiting for my bird friends to discover it. So until they do, this month's scroll saw challenge is bird themed! Post your scroll saw project that is related to our feathered friends. Bird portrait, eagles, puzzles, clocks, bird houses, bird feeders or whatever! I can't wait to see them. When you post, tell us a little something about it. Or maybe share which birds are coming to visit your house. Have fun!
  21. Not sure about other places, but in the US, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) to celebrate our Irish heritage. It's mostly an excuse to drink green beer and eat boiled meats. I thought it might be fun to do a scroll saw challenge around "The Luck Of The Irish." This one is pretty open to interpretation. You can do a St. Paddies day theme, something Irish or Celtic themed, luck, green, etc. It'll be fun to see what you come up with.
  22. I bet it's no surprise that this month's scroll saw challenge is about the gifts we made for friends and family. I always find that handmade gifts are so much more meaningful and appreciated. Post some pics of some of the cool stuff you're making for gifts this Holiday season. Happy Holidays!
  23. The last couple of years has been rough. But despite everything, I think we still have a lot to be thankful for. I think that's why I love this season, it allows us to focus on what's important and be mindful of gratitude and the blessings we have in our life. This scroll saw challenge is a bit open for interpretation. It can be fall, harvest, or something you're grateful for. Inspirational signs, special gifts, or ways to mark the special moments in your life. When you post your project, share something you're thankful for. When you count your blessings, you'll be amazed how many there are.
  24. It's that time of year! Post your Halloween scroll saw projects and show us know how you're haunting your house this year.
  25. Last week, I headed back to Montana to visit my family. It has been awhile since I've been home. We had a great time reminiscing about the good ol' days. So I think this month's scroll saw challenge is about nostalgia. Post a project that brings back memories of the good ol' days. This is pretty open to interpretation. Old cars, trains, farm houses, scenic, etc. When you post, let us know what kind of memories it brings back for you. It will be fun to see what people come up with.
