Gordster Posted February 18, 2017 Report Share Posted February 18, 2017 A fellow asked me go make him a sign for his gate entitled Do Drop In.This is what I put together. It is 3/4 inch pine stained with dark walnut. Then given 3 coats of spar varnish. The letters I use just paint.I do not put spar on the white letters as they will turn yellow. The letters and horses are raised by tilting the saw table to the left.Cut Counterclockwise. I usually tilt the table around 7 degrees, but because of so many letters here I only went 5 degrees.The centers in the letters O and D, I cut clockwise which will recess that part back.These are fun to make and the raised letters set it off nicely. Rob Thank you Rob..Because there is so many letters,I had to reduce the angle to about 4 or 5 degrees.This makes it raise just about an eighth of an inch. Roly Roly,if you give it a go..remember to get the letters to raise always cut Counterclockwise.to get them to inset,cut clockwise. Play with the angle to get the height you want. Here is one I did with just the 4 house numbers. You can see the letters are raised higher as I used about 7 degrees to make the cuts.
