This is sort of a "subway art" (I guess that is a thing these days) design I made of the fruit of the spirit bible verse "The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness and self-control." This is will eventually be a present for my mom, it is one of her favorite bible verses.

This piece has been testing me on all of the fruits! I have been working on this piece off and on for many months. I keep scraping it, and pulling it out thinking "its not that bad" or "I could fix/hide that". I finally decided to sit down and get all the words cut so I could see once and for all if I can keep it or if I have "awesome designer firewood". One one hand it is going to my mother, who will say it is beautiful no matter how many mistakes there are, but I sort of feel guilty giving her sub-par pieces.

So my questions are - How many mistakes do you see? Should I fix them before giving it to my mom? Should I burn this one and start over?

I think it is definitely a keeper. Put a little finish on it and frame it, your mother will love it!!

Katie , I only see like 3 and 2 of them are O's  then a "e" but if you didn't say to look I proably would of not even notice them

I only see two, the "O" in love and the "E" in gentleness. If it bothers you a bunch, the cut another "O" and a "E" and add the missing parts to your project. Should be easy to fix. But it looks awesome!

Hi Katie:

If it's someone elses work you would say that looks really good

but seeing it's your own work I say that you are being just a tad too critical on your work.

As mentioned above the O in Love and the 2nd E in Gentleness I would try to fix

Everything else looks really good

Glad you posted it for us to see

Thanks

Fab4

I think I personally would just cut new centers for the O's then finish and frame it - your mother will love it.

I agree with Keefie. Just fix the O's. The only other thing is the background. My opinion is it's too shiny. Can't wait to see it framed.

Thanks for the comments! I appreciate having your input. I fixed the O and E and framed it this afternoon.

Dan, you are right the background in the first one was too shiny. It was just sitting on my shop stool, so I knew I would change it. I backed it with black felt.

Thanks again guys!!

Katie

Fantastic work, Katie,

You were definitely being too critical of your work but, now that you have

changed your  'perceived' mistakes, you can feel better about it when you

see it proudly displayed at your mother's house.

God Bless! Spirithorse

Katie, the only mistake would have been to burn it, it looks great and your mom will love it.....paul

this extrodonaryly cut intricate piece is a work of art ! Not something for the feeble minded or the insane.you got to have it all together to master this one on the scroll saw.Three stars for you! :)

If it's not broke don't fix it or you'll render it useless!
