When cutting a project that is to be framed do you add a finish to it before you frame it?  I never have and I have never thought about it until today, when I had a portrait ready for framing that was 3mm poplar ply and I wondered if I should or not.  Interested to hear your views.

Marg, I always finish the cutting, and then frame it with the frame prefinished also. If you don't finish it this way, the two pieces won't be stuck together by finishing product that will act as a glue.

Do them separate Marg. If you put finish on when it's in the frame, capillary action will draw the finish under the rebate in the frame which, when dry, will prevent you getting your cutting out of the frame later. Just my humble opinion Marg. :D  :D  :D  :D
