Custom dog pattern request

Hello, I was wandering if any awesome pattern makers could give this a try! Maybe just the head??  Thank you!!

I'm not real happy with this, black dogs are hard for me.  Maybe someone will come up with something better.  If not i hope you'll post a picture of the finished project if you decide to cut it.

They all look awesome!!  I know how hard black dogs are to create a pattern, and am very impressed!!  Thank you very much!!  We have decided to go with the second pattern posted by Russell!!  I will post pic of finished piece!!
