grosa Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 There is a company here in Florida that saves trees from going into the landfills. They will also cut up trees that have fallen down in storms and cut them up and prepare them for woodworking projects. Are the any companies in your area that do the same thing. https://www.facebook.com/viable.lumber Quote
Scrappile Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 No, I wish there was. Not enough trees and I guess not enough woodworkers to make it viable. We have several tree trimmers/removers in the area, but none of them have the milling equipment to work the lumber. Most they do is cut it up for firewood to sell. Quote
grosa Posted September 4, 2016 Author Report Posted September 4, 2016 That's a shame Paul. There is a lot of good looking wood in local trees. Quote
Lucky2 Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 Nothing like that around here either, most of the time if you want a certain kind of wood you go to the woods and cut it. If you don't have any of the kind you want on your own property, your neighbor is usually willing to let you cut a tree or two off of their land. We do a lot of trading to get what we want for wood to work with, I wish I had a few Baltic Birch plywood trees growing on my land. Len Quote

kywoodmaster Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 I bought some Ambrosia Maple off these guys last year to do a cradle for my grandson. Great wood, great people and great price. http://lvwoods.com/about/ Fab4 1 Quote
Fish Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 Great to see someone doing that, at least it doesn't get wasted. Quote
grosa Posted September 6, 2016 Author Report Posted September 6, 2016 Yes I just wish more places would do the same. Quote
jbrowning Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 I wish we had something like that here in Colorado. Jim Quote
