oldhudson Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 I know a number of members have mentioned in posts about selling various items they've made at 'craft fairs'. That term 'craft fairs takes' in a wide range of events from a church basement sale in Kiester, MN to the Smithsonian Institutes Art Show in Washington D.C. My questions are: are the shows you sell at juried shows or those that let anyone in? Why you chose that course and your impressions? TIA Quote
bandaideman Posted September 16, 2016 Report Posted September 16, 2016 the ones I have been too have not been juried. I think others are less expense. I did go to one juried fair at a local school as a customer looking around. It is all hand crafted except a lot of stuff looked a lot like what is bought from the Internet and then resold. Even had sewing machines for sale, many beads, china, dishware etc. I did not apply to go because it was to be all hand made and I thought since it was juried my stuff would not cut the mustard but I think it could. I however have not been to many shows just because of time but now retired may consider looking more seriously. Quote
Lucky2 Posted September 16, 2016 Report Posted September 16, 2016 I sell at the local farmers market, and at Christmas sales. None of them are juried shows, there's no such thing around here. Len Quote
WayneMahler Posted September 16, 2016 Report Posted September 16, 2016 I do both Juried and regular shows. The larger shows are normally much better then the smaller ones. The juried shows are a hit and miss, depending on what folks are looking for. I do mainly religious items and very detailed scrolling. Probably not much help what your looking for. Every area has a theme, and if you get a handle on it, you will do well. ` amazingkevin 1 Quote
ike Posted September 16, 2016 Report Posted September 16, 2016 I don't do juries shows most are too expensive. Most of my shows are in churches. and I specialize in nativity scenes. I try to keep my sales prices at below $30 with most under $20 I sell about 50 nativity scenes each year. IKE Quote

WayneMahler Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 God is with you doing his work! Kevin the important part is getting his word out for us. No money can match the value of this. Lucky2, danny and tomsteve 3 Quote
dansnow Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 We do both. Learned to avoid "First Annual" shows like the plague! We also avoid any shows with Flea or Sale in the title. Folks going to those are looking for flea market/garage sale prices. We do wooden toys. jewelry boxes, baskets and crosses. Juried shows while costing more, are usually established, have good history of attendance and advertise more. Quote
