If you cut away the white area, you will be left with a piece of wood that looks like a teapot with a stand. The bits coming off the spout of the teapot would have to be extra or eliminated.

If you cut away the black area, you will end up with a square of wood with a teapot shaped hole. However, there would also be 3 "floaters" (the corner by the bracket, and either side by the handle) you would have to glue them to a backer board or modify the pattern to put in a couple of bridges to give the floaters some support.
