martinvanzyl Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Help please. I'm completely new to image software. So I tried Travis's classes on GIMP. He is absolutely brilliant. Thanks a million Travis. Problem is he does not know just how thick I am. I managed to get stuck right at the start. I must have accidentally started the brush tool, for I noticed a short stroke on my (what should still be blank) image. No problem. Pick the erase tool and wipe it out. But now I have the erase tool and I can't get rid of it unless I pick another tool. I do not want another tool, I want just my pointer, so I won't accidentally do something to my image again. So how do I get my pointer back? Many thanx. Martin. Quote
Travis Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Hi Martin. You'll always have a tool selected that will do something. If you're looking for your pointer, you can choose the move tool (looks like a + with arrows), but that will move your picture if you click and drag. If you're looking for the least destructive tool, perhaps the Rectangle Select tool is your best bet. This will create a selection box, but won't alter your image unless you follow it up with another action (like delete, or using another tool). Hope this helps. Quote
