Phantom Scroller Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) For those interested in CNC work here it is cutting hugs the hearts were pocketed to allow my to mix some red two part epoxy resin to pour in but that's a job for another day. Roly PS: Could have done it in two passes with this cutter or one with a bigger one but couldn't be bothered to change the setting just in case you say you could cut it quicker on the scrollsaw. kmmcrafts Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Nice work!! How deep was your passes carving? I've been trying to learn the right depth of cut on profile cuts so I don't get rough edges. But some of my issue is my spindle head is not trammed correctly.. Only discovered that issue when trying to surface a large sign and it came out with grooves in it.. Quote

Only discovered that issue when trying to surface a large sign and it came out with grooves in it.. It was 0.403inches deep the wood at 10 passes of 0.0403 could have done 4 passes at 0.1008 easily with this 3mm bit it's a down cut bit if a had the choice I would had bought a compression bit to cut down and up clean obviously if you using the down cut your pushing the dust down and up cut is up and compression bit is both ways. I would practice on some scrap of the wood you want to cut as the speed and amount of depth you cut defers on each. I like to do more past less strain on the bit you'll know if it's to deep it will snap the bit. hope this helps. Roly ps lines on the the surfacing could be a tramming issue with board and router or step over percentage on the bit I think. Edited January 13, 2022 by Phantom Scroller kmmcrafts 1 Quote
