jerry1939 Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 I have Windows 10 with McAfee anti-virus. Our oldest son is a computer programmer for 35 years & uses McAfee, Avast anti-virus showed up on our computer. Now I have to jump thru hoops to search things, because the McAfee & Avast fight each other. The usual "Uninstall" options don't work. Tried using the IPhone in one hand for instructions to no avail. Anyone have a cure? Please Pretty Please Quote
Foxfold Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 Not sure if this is any use to you Jerry, but it's from Avast themselves. https://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility#pc Dan 1 Quote

I had already tried that, along with several other "methods". Whenever the computer sees the word Avast, it fails to uninstall. Our son that is a computer programmer lives 2+ hours from here. He will call tomorrow & I will check with him, but normally if there is a problem I can't cure, we wait until he comes here. Unfortunately, it often takes an hour of his time. We would rather visit than make him work. Foxfold 1 Quote
Joe W. Posted February 5, 2022 Report Posted February 5, 2022 Sometimes going to a previous/earlier "restore point" will do the trick. search restore point and you will see steps on how to do it, if you aren't familiar with it. Dan 1 Quote
jerry1939 Posted February 5, 2022 Author Report Posted February 5, 2022 Solved it. Start - All Apps - Avast - R. click Avast - Choose "File Location" - Delete Thanks for all who helped. jerry Quote

don watson Posted February 6, 2022 Report Posted February 6, 2022 Good result, glad you found it. It may help a couple of people as well. Quote
jerry1939 Posted February 6, 2022 Author Report Posted February 6, 2022 There is another one that shows up on our Windows 10. If Avast is not listed as an app, Google Download AVG Removal Tool and follow the instructions. Quote
