Popular Post Rolf Posted February 25, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 25, 2022 (edited) I created this "Bellport" ice scooter from a photo that I had. These were raced on our bay when it froze over. The steering is with the jib (front sail) and they can hit 60mph. Back in the early 80's I was restoring one but back then I did not have the tools that I have now and sold it. It had been built in the 1800's. All natural woods except for the blue sky. That was done with an airbrush over a blue pine backer. The window in the sail is a bit of acrylic. It is 11 x 11 inches. Fun to design and tricky to get the perspective right. meflick Posted February 25, 2022 Report Posted February 25, 2022 Beautiful piece Rolf. I love the airbrushed background. It adds as depth that’s no background or a wooden one would not and it enhances your piece. Quote
Jim McDonald Posted February 25, 2022 Report Posted February 25, 2022 Beautiful subject executed in your usual great fashion. Quote

preprius Posted February 26, 2022 Report Posted February 26, 2022 Intarsia is very hard to make. Let alone make it look this good. Now add the fact this is your own design. It shows alot of work. Very nice. The puffy jackets and helmets add the cold and danger factor. The left to right grain is excellent and blends into the horizon / sea so well. Stunning, pleasing to the eye. Me. Quote
