Jean-Marc Posted May 12, 2022 Report Posted May 12, 2022 Good morning Ladies and gentlemen. I met a wonderful lady some weeks ago ... She is in the forest management. I'm willing to make a TREE OF LIFE for her, to put in her office. Is it possible to have a pattern in oak, or beech. It's the main 2 wood, that she manage the most. Thanking you in advance. Quote
Foxfold Posted May 12, 2022 Report Posted May 12, 2022 (edited) Depends on how thick the wood and what blades you have, but I see no reason why you can't use either oak or beech. When I do a Tree of Life I use this pattern, but there are a gazillion online if you look for tree of life silhouette Edited May 12, 2022 by Foxfold lawson56, multitom, barb.j.enders and 5 others 8 Quote
don in brooklin on Posted May 12, 2022 Report Posted May 12, 2022 There are lots of examples here at SSV for inspiration. Search "Tree of Life". Make sure you put in quotes. Here is one I did a few years ago. I started with 3/4 inch mahogany. I created a plate with about 1/4 lip and there is 1/8 inch recess at back for the backer. I did this on my lathe when I still could run the lathe. I then cut the tree of life from a silhouette that I got from google. Could be done in any wood. If you want the pattern let me know.
