Popular Post munzieb Posted April 25, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted April 25, 2023 My Wife said she liked painted the domed boxes I make. She had a Hydrangia pattern she wanted to paint so I made another domed box. 8 x 10 and 5.5 deep not including the top. It made from 1/2" Poplar and the joint box joints go fast. Rather than steam bending, I have gone to routered canoe strips 3/4" wide and 1/4" thick, glued and pin nailed in place. Finish is shellac and LOTS!! of black spray lacquer. Wife did another fantastic job of painting the Hydrangias on top, sides and inside. Antique corner edges and latch offer a nice detail. She says she wants a larger box next time. Only problem is our local Lowes only has 5.5" wide 1/2" Poplar so that will mean a glue up. I'll have to think about that. Jronn65, barb.j.enders, don watson and 9 others 8 4 Quote
