Skil Phil Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I traced a pattern and scanned it as a .pdf and .jpg.Importing either into inkscape works and I can see the outline of my tracing (with a few bad patches)I have tried to fill the pattern and improve the outline with stroke but nothing.Any ideas?ThanksPhil Quote
don in brooklin on Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 Did you convert the object to a to a path.? PATH>TRACE BITMAP The new path is on top of the image. Select the path and move. Delete the old image and then should be able to improve the stroke. If that is not the problem please post pic. Don Quote
Skil Phil Posted January 24, 2014 Author Report Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the reply Don. Tried that but got half a result. The .svg file is attached. If successful would like to know how for future use. Thanks Phil ps. Know Mack Cameron? -(pen turner) also in Brooklin mob-duck-l.svg Edited January 24, 2014 by Skil Phil Quote
don in brooklin on Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I looked at the image and there are hunks missing. I would suggest that you fix up on your pattern and rescan and then trace the bitmap in Inkscape. Or you could import to gimp and add the missing lines. I am not very good at using the pencil with a mouse but could be done with patience. Don PS: Mack Cameron is a very good friend as I live just a km north of him. Mack still makes a lot of pens put has recently got hooked on making wigs stands for cancer patients that our club makes. bobscroll Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) Hello Phil, Right here go's, 1st Import your image as Don said "Path-Trace bitmap", When it's opened you will see "Brightness Cutoff", Adjust the Threshold up or down and on each adjustment press update to see if it has improved your image or not, Remembering to drag off the top the new one you have created, Do you understand what I mean Phil, If not get back to me o.k. amazingkevin Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Interesting patterning talk ,hope i can soak it up. Quote
Skil Phil Posted January 25, 2014 Author Report Posted January 25, 2014 Well I followed the instructions and got it right. It is not perfect because of the tracing. The lines are a bit fuzzy but it is a workable pattern. Thanks Don & Bob for the help. Phil Quote
