oldhudson Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Here's a little project I made this week. We received a nice set of steak knives for Christmas and they needed a home. I didn't want them on the wall (I didn't want to try drilling the tiles) and under cabinet wouldn't work because of the under cabinet lights so it meant having something on the counter. I saw a picture of something like this when I Googled knife block images. Cherry and maple, a coat of BLO and a couple coats of a wipe on varnish. The gap for the knives is just a non- through saw kerf. I cut a shallow dado on the face and added a thin strip of maple to close the face. Then added a base of maple. Rob Roy Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Very nice knife block Berry. I like the maple contrast against the nice piece of cherry. Rob Roy. Quote
