Phantom Scroller Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Hi Everyone. I was looking at making a squirrel proof feeder for the birds as there's loads of squirrels raiding my bird feeders. The one's on the net that spin are very expensive and I'm sure I could use a fishing spinner to do the same thing with a standard feeder and a bowl on top to force them to jump on it and make it spin has anyone make something similar. don't laugh it's real. They sell these on Ebay and Amazon and they use batteries to spin them as soon as the weight hits the base but the birds are not heavy enough. I have seen others without batteries and use centrifugal force which is what I'm planning to have a go at and if it works I'LL POST IT. Roly bobscroll 1 Quote
Kepy Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 I would definitely question anyone who claims a feeder to squirrel proof. I think the squirrels are smarter than the designers. Wilson's Woodworking and Phantom Scroller 2 Quote
