Hello folks, I'm sure you didn't miss me, but I sure missed you. Had a monumental PC crash. I've been Gremlin hunting as you will see. I got two of the buggers but the rest of them!!!! God knows where they are. I'm using an old Dell Optiplex GX 270, at the moment and it's slower than me LOL. Download something and I go and make a coffee, half of which I have drank before the download pops up. I'm using it to write this, so you'll get it around Thursday. I've certainly missed a lot of lovely work and superb patterns In the week or so I've been AWOL.

I might mention Kevin's lettering, well, just Amazing, all the rest are the usual high standard for our friends here, Superb. Be warned Rob Roy is back!!! Hope you all had a good time.

Rob Roy.

That says it all Rob it's not gremlins, it's the little people them Dell PC'S are made by the Irish. nice your back I was having withdraw symptoms no verbal abuse except from Larry and Marg.

Well Roly, the Dell machine is the one which was the replacement,(a FREEBY) wouldn't consider anything else....!!  . Verbal abuse????. If you had heard my rant when the good machine went kaput you would never have spoken to me again, I even invented a few words I'VE never heard before, and I can assure you they were not GAELIC. Fortunately the BOSS was out at the time. The machine which went down was a custom build, (not by me I might add), which was overclocked, my first thought was overheating, but I checked all the components, all three hdds are fine, cpu fine and everything seems to be OK. I'm thinking nasty virus or worm or some such thing. So it's back to the drawing board, or maybe  the Chairman of the FINANCE board ????. Anyway it's good to be back among all these nice folks. Oh and I got a lovely compliment from the BOSS. She said I had a brain like a computer because.............. I didn't know what to do next unless someone gave me instructions. The cheek of the woman.  Have a great day .  .

No BSOD Roly, In fact no warning at all, put it together again, no signal to the monitor, blank screen. Then I had a brain wave???????.  Took out the graphics card,YES!!!!a duffer. Straight into the BIOS and all drives listed and working but no access to any of the files and the startup files listed as empty, so i've got more digging about to do. Can't even connect to the net so downloading a disc cleaner won't help. I'll try downloading some stuff off the net on to this machine and bung it on to a usb drive and pump it in to the machine that's down and see what happens. All 8 of the usb's are working too. I'm saying download some stuff, Ha flaming Ha. I'll click on the download button then go to ASDA (Walmart to our American friends) and do the shopping and by the time we get home it should have loaded, might even have time for a coffee as well, this thing is so slow     .

Yes it is a bit of a monster Roly 4 inch fan on the CPU and two 4inch fans in the case. 1 blowing and one sucking, and I'll be sucking up to the BOSS if I can't get it going again. .

Try a car battery and a jump lead to kick it into life Rob. sounds more like the speed of a Sinclair Spectrum to me. I used to build PC'S but I was never at home so packed it to be with the wife don't know if that was a good idea spend my time in the workshop now. haa haa.

Anyway sounds like your doing the right things process of elimination.  catch ya later. Roly

Hi Roly, a Sinclair Spectrum Oh Yeah. A Sinclair C5 can go faster than this thing. As  for kicking life into it,I'll just kick the s**t out of it. You're dear wife is probably  quite  happy  you're in the shop. Keeps you out of her hair and....... well,  It's a mutual thing Roly   .
