keefie Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 do any of you computer geniuses out there have the knowledge/capability to convert a .DXF file into either a .PDF file or .jpg file ? Keith. Quote
browders Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 I'm only vaguely familiar with .dxf files. Seems like they're used on CNC machines. I searched on the internet for one and found what were purported to be dxf files. When I went to save them, they always showed jpg for a file type. I've had pretty good luck converting some files using Photoshop Elements. I realize this isn't much help, but I'd be curious to learn more. Jim Quote

Jim You are right Jim, the files I have are for a cnc machine. I asked the designer of the pattern for a copy so I could try to make it on the scrollsaw, but he only had it as a dxf file and didn't know how to convert it. He sent it to me in case I could get it converted. Larry, thanks for your link, but the last step requires you to register and pay yearly subscription. as it's only the one pattern I didn't want to do that. Keith. Quote

Phantom Scroller Posted October 7, 2014 Report Posted October 7, 2014 Well you'll never believe it but Inkscape takes .dxf files then export them to Photoshop or Coral draw to convert to jpeg and wallah. Roly Wilson's Woodworking 1 Quote
