grosa Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) Are any of you guys familiar with the Legacy ornamental mill? It is a great tool for many different types of projects. I enjoy making hollow spiral lamps with it. The first lamp pictured, The outside spiral is a right hand spiral made of Hickory. The inside is a left hand spiral made from Pua rosa. The top and bottom plates are made from Purpleheart. The second lamp pictured the outside spiral is made from Florida rosewood and the inside spiral is made from figured Red eucalyptus. The top and bottom plates are made from Asian Elm. The last picture is a set of spiral samples. Edited November 27, 2014 by grosa leshko and Fish 2 Quote
Scrappile Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Very unique! Seems like I have seen pictures of one of those machines before but I don't remember it being that big. Looks like nice way to make spirals with out all the sanding. I made a spiral candle holder on the drill press, and it took me forever to sand the spirals smooth. Quote
amazingkevin Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Seeing is believing,Very gifted wood worker."I would love to spend some time watching you work your magic! Quote
grosa Posted November 27, 2014 Author Report Posted November 27, 2014 Obsessed Scroller, That's the nice part about this mill, very little sanding. When I take it off the mill I hit it with an 8" flap sanding pad on the drill press that's it. Amazing scroller, Next time you're in tampa Let me know. Ill show you the shop. Quote

oldhudson Posted November 28, 2014 Report Posted November 28, 2014 I have quite a few years of wood working experience and haven't heard of the Legacy Mill. Very nice work and unique. Good use of that style to make lamps and it sure lends itself to using stock with different colors. Quote
