CMHN Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) I have had requests for furniture for those 18" dolls. Being an AutoCAD draftsman I wanted the furniture to be in scale so I looked up how tall a 10 year old girl is and found the average to be around 54". With a little math, that makes the dolls 1/3 the size of a real girl, so that is what I scaled the beds down to. I took a twin bed and scaled it down to 1/3. This way when the doll is laying in the bed, it doesn't look like a Giant or a Dwarf. I made them out of pine and used mortise and tenon joints which are glued together. I didn't want to have any mechanical fasteners for little ones to work out. My wife does the stitch work. A couple beds that I took to a craft fare. Here I am mocking up the doll on the bed. Here is a finished bed, complete with mattress, sheet, blanket and pillow. Edited October 16, 2015 by CMHN amazingkevin 1 Quote

CMHN Posted October 16, 2015 Author Report Posted October 16, 2015 I had a plan when I did the prototype, but I changed a few things since then and I think I deleted the plans. I will try to get somthing on paper again. As for the base, yes I put slats in them. Quote

oldhudson Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Well done. I bet they'd sell well on Etsy, especially if you make related furniture like a chair or dresser. Quote
CMHN Posted October 23, 2015 Author Report Posted October 23, 2015 I have a couple beds made that I am finishing up. Here are a few paint photo's. I had these 2 started and glued up since last spring, just never got around to get them painted and finished up. When I start making new ones I will show some in process photo's of them. Quote
