Kepy Posted November 27, 2015 Report Posted November 27, 2015 I took the opportunity of a free day to visit the Missouri Viet Nam Veteran's Memorial that is about 70 miles south of me. I have been wanting to visit ever since it opened. Was a moving experience. I was not in Viet Nam but was in the service during that time. The memorial is at the College of the Ozarks which is a unique school as none of the students pay tuition but rather have to work for it. They will be responsible for the maintenance of the memorial. It was primarily paid for by donations from the senior golf tournament that was held nearby last year. Some of the students have also escorted veterans overseas to both Europe and Viet Nam where they once served. They have started a grove of trees with each tree marked by a plaque to that veteran. I don't have a picture of the entire grove as it is quite extensive. I ended my day with a dinner put on by Habitat for Humanity that was paid for by donation only. What a great day! Lucky2 1 Quote
