jerry1939 Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Hi All, Was making a freehand drawing with Bezier tool. Clicked "Nodes" and curved a few lines OK. After that, I messed it up, but don't know how I did it. Now, on the remaining lines (between nodes) I can curve them normally, BUT I END UP WITH 2 LINES. One is the original straight line and the second line is curved the way I wanted it, but I have TWO lines where there should be one. jerry P.S. Will turn off the laptop now and help the Sweet Wife watch TV. Will check back manana. Quote
WayneMahler Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Almost sounds like you made a duplicate image. And are working on the copied one. Try deleting the line that stays straight. Is so then you can work on your pattern a delete the lines you don't want. Just a thought. Quote
jerry1939 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Thanks for trying. I tried a new screen, as opposed to the one I was working on. New screen won't even bend any line. Lower left shows a FILL color with no line color. Am now thinking that because I have a "fill" my original problem was that by bending a straight line, It created a closed line (the original & the one I bent). Me new question is, does anyone know how to set the FILL to NONE? I think inkscape is remembering something else that I applied FILL to. jerry Quote
Travis Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 ... Me new question is, does anyone know how to set the FILL to NONE? I think inkscape is remembering something else that I applied FILL to. ... To set fill to none, select your item and click the white box with the red X in it. That will clear any fill. Post your SVG file and someone can take a look at it for you. I suspect there is duplicate copies of the shape and that's what's tripping you up. Quote
jerry1939 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Thanks Travis, This is a "new" Inscape, therefore duplication isn't involved. First pic is of a random shape. Second has NODES but I cannot bend them. Third is the color chart. Lower left of 1 & 2 shows that I have a FILL but no STROKE. I cannot bend any line. Am unable (read not smart enough) to find the box with the X in it that you refer to. Could uninstall Inkscape and re-install it, but am worried that I might loose things saved to the desktop. jerry Quote
jerry1939 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Still playing with it. If the shape is NOT SELECTED, it shows both FILL & STROKE as N/A. When SELECTED, it shows a FILL COLOR. Still cannot bend anything. jerry Quote
Dan Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Jerry, I notice that your opacity is set to 0. Opacity is the O just to the right of the Fill and Stroke. Change that to 100 and see what that does for you. If that doesn't work, buy a box of crayons. Quote
Travis Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Can you post your Inkscape document? I think I have to actually look at the file and see what you're trying to do. Birchbark 1 Quote
Dan Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 I also see something else that is interesting. You have no stroke color therefore no stroke width. Yet, your lines are displayed in your screen shots. I have to agree with Travis...post your svg file. Quote
jerry1939 Posted March 8, 2016 Author Report Posted March 8, 2016 A big THANK YOU for all the help/suggestions !!! I kept telling myself that & messed up multiple things. Decided to Start Over. Uninstalled and re-installed Inkscape. That cured everything. To my surprise, I went right to "Open Recent" and everything from the past was there. Deleted the troublemaker from the desktop. Opened an old "Open Recent" and was able to work just fine. Am now a Happy Camper. Dan; Per your suggestion, I did go to WalMart and buy crayons in case I ever need a Plan B. jerry Travis 1 Quote
Dan Posted March 8, 2016 Report Posted March 8, 2016 Glad you got the problem solved. You probably dropped a bit or byte somewhere. As for Walmart, who took the picture of you? I think you need more than just crayons. Quote
