Has some of you may remember I put some of my work into the local Art Shop, maybe about this time last year.  I managed to sell a couple of things which was great, but I found out yesterday that they have closed down.  That leaves 64 local artists without a place in Hastings to sell their craft.  So for me it is back to selling by word of mouth, which hasn't been to bad to my in 16 years.

I hope you didn't experience what I did.  Tried that in a shop once and later the shop was gone along with my projects.

That's the story of my life Kepy.Three times i loaded up stores and three time everything disappeared and nobody knows nothing???Guess i'll take that as a compliment that my stuff is worth stealing for,lol

Sorry to hear Marg. We tried that once and it was a disaster. They sold my work, and I never got paid for it, then in the middle of the night they disappeared. All we do now is Craft fairs / shows and custom work.

Sorry to hear that Marg, but if you only sold a couple of things a year, not much of a loss actually is it?  Would a co-op be a possibility even?  Sixty four people is quite a few to split the costs each month.

Sorry to hear that Marg.  Might want to look into ETSY,COM.  It is a cheap way to set up a store.  I know that for me it took about 3 years before I had a significant amount of traffic.  I do this in addition to doing the craft fairs and friend orders.

I got all of my things back and we always got paid for the things we sold, it was run by The Westernport Chamber of Commerce, (they help out and run the town basically).  The main problem was wrong place, no advertising and no credit card facilities.  Hasting is a very working class poor area it is not a place for an Art shop but it was worth a try.  My daughter is doing a craft market on Sunday and she will let me know if it is worth doing, I think it is once a month but we could alternate.
