Jim Finn Posted August 11, 2016 Report Posted August 11, 2016 Our woodworking club makes toys to give to local children's hospitals and to The Salvation Army and The Ronald McDonald House. Mostly cars and trucks, but also other items like animals made of wood. I had an idea for yet another item to make that the kids would like and I came up with this:It is a box made from 2x4s ripped to 3/8" thickness and 1/4" plywood. It measures 101/2" x 7" x 1 1/2" deep. I printed out 32 pages of cartoon type drawings like those found in coloring books.. I purchased 100 boxes of crayons at 25 cents each at Walmart and include one in each box. This gives the child crayons, something to color and a box to lay it on as they sit in their hospital bed. I made the boxes this size so that I can print out the coloring book pages, two to a printer sheet page, and then cut them in half. I printed on both sides of the paper. No scroll saw involved, but this may be an idea for those of you that are members of clubs similar to ours, that make toys for kids.I have made 25 of these so far. jbrowning Posted August 15, 2016 Report Posted August 15, 2016 Great looking box Jim, I need to find a wood working club here in town to join. Maybe that will get me into the woodworking hobby on a more regular basis. Jim Quote
