Kepy Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 I have hesitated to post this info as am sure it will be questioned. Was asked to participate at our local Celtic Festival again this year with my carving group. We do not sell but demonstrate. Last year people kept trying to buy things so I decided to have something this year to sell. Didn't have much time as haven't been able to work in the shop. Did manage to finish a few cuttings of a thistle over a trinity Celtic knot. These were 1/4" poplar and put on a bamboo skewer so they could be stuck in plant pots. Didn't have time to put on a finish as barely got the glue dried. Couldn't believe it but they all sold and could have sold more. Of course, there is not a picture so you will have to take my word for it. Was a great day of good weather and a lot of bagpipes. bobscroll, Lucky2, Docupton and 1 other 4 Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 Glad they sold for you Kepy !...Cut a couple more and post them so we can all enjoy ! Quote
meflick Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 As a newbie, I'm not sure why you would be hesitant to post. You did put it in the "off topic" area of "Everything Else" - Coffee House - which I take to mean anything else not covered by another topic that would be "general conversation" that might interest people here. Sorta like running into a friend at the "Coffee House" and hearing what they have been up to. I see nothing wrong. Glad you were able to make some and get them sold. Sounds like they were a hit. Maybe you can start on next year's show to get a good "stock pile" to sell. If you do - take a picture and show us what you are describing. Picture is always worth a thousand words. Quote

Lucky2 Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) No doubt in my mind Kepy, I believe you that it happened. I really dislike how people get great joy out of the, "don't see it, so it didn't happen" statement. If your going to type that in your statement, why not just call the person a lier outright? Cause basically, that's what people are doing when they make that statement. Len Edited September 14, 2016 by Lucky2 Quote

I took the liberty and went to your gallery to take some pictures of your past projects ,But your gallery was EMPTY .A carvers workmanship amazes me too much too.i tryied carving a large bar of ivory soap once in boy scouts.I too get something done and don't seem to have the time to snap a shot of my work lots of times.I'm glad you find time for the arts still .Thanks for the good news!
