meflick Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 Looks like all the early birds have been too busy to start up a "chat" thread for Marg today. I have been out on some errands and enjoying some more Fall like weather. Still warmer then normal but no 80's today. Looks like its 72 right now - probably out to take my dog out to play for a bit. Some of you with that rain could you please send it our way - East TN is in severe drought conditions - Chattanooga area is worse off then we are. We are almost 8 inches behind in our area. We had 4 days of any measurable rain in Sept. and that was very little, only 2 days in Oct. - again not much even then. So anyone who can send the rain this way we would be grateful. I did get some time on the saw yesterday afternoon. Maybe some more today if I would get off here and go and work there. Looking forward to the weekend. Hope everyone has a great one. Quote
Rob Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 Well it's Saturday 5th November here in New Zealand already Melanie. The kids are excited about Guy Fawkes fireworks tonight. We will have to see how our Labrador puppy handles it. He is ten months old so has never seen or heard them before. I hope he isn't too scared. Rob Quote

LarryEA Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 I'm a little late but that is because everything happened at once... horse stalls to do, Susan had her last operation, removal of a filter. Had to get ready for a craft show tomorrow... I'm hungry....... cats and puppy to feed. But it's a nice day... All went well with Susan's filter removal, craft table partially set up for tomorrow. Gotta get up a little earlier to 'FEED THE HORSES AGAIN' ... get to the show and finish setting up fix a lunch to take, check my list. say my prayers....... Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
Debi Shipman Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 It was nice here today. It's getting cooler now. I didn't do much out of the ordinary today. Dishes, laundry. vacuum, gave the cats a bath, voted, then cooked dinner and played on the computer a bit waiting for bedtime. LarryEA 1 Quote

meflick Posted November 5, 2016 Author Report Posted November 5, 2016 See now its Sat. morning here and some of you are probably already on to Sunday on the other side of the world! Glad everybody who's checking in has been doing good. Larry - I am glad that you were able to get the horses feed, the stalls cleaned and the cats and puppy taken care of. We only have one dog, a Golden Retriever, she is a little more than 3 years old now so fairly easy to take care of. Glad Susan's had her final operation and that it went well. Sounds like lots on your plate there right now. Squeezing in a craft fair with all of that, well I admire you. Hopefully you will take pictures and show us your work and setup when it all settles down. Good luck with the sale. May there be lots of folks and lots of money changing hands for you. Rob Roy - enjoy those grandchildren. Hope some of those medications were vitamins to help you keep up! Wanted to update everyone on my Daughter's volleyball semi-final match for their conference championship. It was played last night. We ended up not driving the 6 hours over to watch. They were playing the number one seed and undefeated team so was a big challenge. Her team is young, not as tall as in years past, and has been riddled with lots of injuries this season. Their number 1 outside (primary hitter) was lost for the season to a knee injury in warmups for their first match this year and others continued to get hit by the injury bug. The good news is that with today's technology, we can often watch the matches on the internet (which we then broadcast to the tv screen). Long story short - they lost BUT they played extremely well - probably one of their best matches all season. They play best of 5 and they took the other team all the way through the 5 sets before losing the last set by still a close margin. Heartbreaking I know for the girls to get so close and lose but really a great match and one that in hindsight they will be very proud of. Weather today is very nice - more seasonable like Fall weather. Great day for some US football so I will be watching some key college games on TV this afternoon evening. Hoping my team rallies from some rough losses the last few weeks. Hubby is working in the workshop on a gift for my niece and her new hubby (wedding gift) so I can't really get out to the saw right now. Hope everyone has a great day. Rob Roy 1 Quote

Debi Shipman Posted November 6, 2016 Report Posted November 6, 2016 Must have started when they were two weeks old... then 4 weeks,,, then............ lol We got them when they were 3 months and 5 months. They are now 9 months and 7 months. They were barn cats (now house cats) and covered with fleas. I think we may be winning the battle finally. Quote

Sweet kitties We have three house cats and four + outside... we feed We have a neighbor who came from the city and let his two cats run free. They are not neutered... n ow we have a bunch running loose. The neighbors don't feed the offshoots of their cats... now we need to trap and take them to an animal councel. Debi Shipman 1 Quote
meflick Posted November 6, 2016 Author Report Posted November 6, 2016 Bathing cats - no, I don't think I would venture there. But then, I'm not really a cat person. Hubby is the one who usually bathes the dog- too hard on my fused neck I am afraid. Good news is that she doesn't seem to mind it and he does it in our shower and she just stands there while he does it. Funny how her "golden" coat seem to look so much lighter the other day after her last bath! I just hope she doesn't encounter the skunk(s) that my neighbor said they have nesting in their yard and have had spray their dogs! LarryEA 1 Quote
wombatie Posted November 7, 2016 Report Posted November 7, 2016 Hi guys, sorry I didn't make it over the weekend. We had a house full on Saturday to finally celebrate my birthday. Funny really, considering that I didn't have much of a birthday it's lasted a long time.  Sorry that your daughters team didn't win on Friday Melanie but a great learning experience. Larry good to hear that Susan went through removal. You need to slow down before you get sick though. Marg LarryEA 1 Quote
meflick Posted November 7, 2016 Author Report Posted November 7, 2016 Glad your family finally got together to help you celebrate your birthday Marg. Nothing wrong with having it go on for a really long time - especially after how you had to spend the day! Yes, even in losing you can learn - sometimes more - what I hope they learned was that they were better then the hoped to be and with work and effort in the off season they will be better next year. Always hard on the Seniors though when they know its their last game EVER in a school match. So many have been playing for YEARS. Definitely a transition for them when it ends.
