frieke Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 This one I finished today. I name it a Chess horse, it's burned on poplar plywood. Quote
Dave M Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Great job Frieke! How long does it take you to do one of these? I saw you on a Pyro site on Yahoo groups. Most say it takes weeks to burn a project. I have done a few but nothing like what you're putting out. I should put up a couple pictures of the ones I have done, most given as gifts. Again nice job, very original. Dave Quote
frieke Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 Hello, I think I worked about 15 hours on it, in a week or two. When I don't know it anymore I put it away, where I can see it if i want to, and then after a few days I restart on it with burning. It's hard to know when it is actually finished. It's my 4th woodburning so i have to learn a lot, but I realy like to burn, for the moment my scrollsaw is crying I think... thanks for the compliments! Quote
steviegwood Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Hi Frieke, if that is only your forth burning then God gave you a special talent. I have seen your works and they are superb. I wish that I had the time and talent to do the pyography. I knew a lady a long time ago that could do wildlife and add color that they would look real. I always dreamed of having a gun cabinet covered with wildlife scenes in pyography. Steve Quote
Travis Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 That turned out really pretty. You did an amazing job, especially for your 4th burning. I'd like to buy some good burning tools at some point this year and try it for myself. Is that your own pattern? Good job! Quote
frieke Posted March 8, 2010 Author Report Posted March 8, 2010 Hi Travis, It's not my own pattern, it's a coloring page my youngest once got from a nurse when she was in the hospital. I always wanted to do something with it, so this was what I came up with. hope when you buy burning tools you'll have as much fun as I do. @ to all, thanks for the nice comments! Quote
frieke Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 Thanks for the nice comments on my woodburnings Bulldogg Quote
Helenm2807 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 Nice work Frieke, What sort of pyro tool do you use? Wire? H. Quote
frieke Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 Here you can see my burner. It's a PYRO G. I have about 20 different points, so no wires. (I dream of a razortip) Quote
scrollgirl Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 That one looks Nice! The one I have is a $29 one I got from Canadian Tire. It is probably the most basic one on the market. I haven't used it yet and hope I don't get discouraged using a limited tool. I always tell people to get the 'best tools they can afford' but I really don't know where to begin with wood burning tools. I am going to have to do some research and perhaps ask for a little advice when I am ready to take the plunge and give it a go! (I will be watching to see how you do things!) Sheila Quote
frieke Posted May 13, 2010 Author Report Posted May 13, 2010 Hi Sheila, I did send you a PM with more info where to look for tutorials and stuff. I don't know if I could place that here. Thank you for the nice words, and I look forwards to see some of your woodburnings! Quote
