For Allison, I think it looks great. I really like how you've kept the shadows without trying to add detail. Here eye is great. Without being able to compare it to the original photo, I'd say it looks like its ready to cut.

The lighthouse is a bit trickier. I think where you may be struggling with is the detail. The main focus of the pattern is (in my mind) the lighthouse. But looking at the picture as a whole, the lighthouse makes up only 10% of the pattern, leaving the rest with water. You can't fit in the details into the lighthouse because it is too small. So it's a little hard to tell what it is (however, you can figure it out within the context of the seascape).

I would make the lighthouse most of the pattern and leave out the seascape. Lighthouses have really unique shapes and interesting details that really sets it apart from other buildings. I doubt you'll need the water for folks to figure out what it is. Unfortunately, this advice would require you to start over. :? I'd enlarge the lighthouse to take up the entire cutting area and start working with shadows and details of the buildings. I think it would result in a really cool pattern.

That's my two pennies, anyway. Anybody else have any suggestions?
