hotshot Posted August 4, 2017 Report Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) I was out in the shop the other day, pretending to be cleaning up a bit, and when I picked up my Rigid grinder, it was missing the tightening nut. Well, been dreading getting on line, and looking up that stupid part, knowing full well that as soon as I order it, I will find the original. But wait, something looks odd about the light in my Hallway . . . . Nah, couldn't be Yep, (That is the Missing Nut to the Rigid) now what to do . . . Edited August 5, 2017 by hotshot Quote
Scrappile Posted August 4, 2017 Report Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) Hummmmm. Must be a Rigid light fixture. Edited August 4, 2017 by Scrappile Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted August 4, 2017 Report Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) Looks like a spanner wrench might be needed when installing that light fixture.....Hummmmm ! Edited August 5, 2017 by Scrolling Steve Quote
hotshot Posted August 4, 2017 Author Report Posted August 4, 2017 Off to Home Depot to find a regular nut the same size to replace it with, I'll paint the new nut black, quietly replace it and keep the drama at a minimum. Scrolling Steve, Scrappile and WayneMahler 3 Quote

jerry1939 Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 FYI: I would go to a machine/welding shop to buy a nut for the grinder. Light fixtures are usually made of poor quality material. I personally don't like to live dangerously enough to spin that nut holding on a grinding wheel at that speed. Would be concerned about where that wheel could end up and how wide a path it would make before stopping. Please be careful Friend. jerry Quote

So I'm just stealing it back :-) Edited August 5, 2017 by hotshot Quote

Dan Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 The cost of the nut to replace on the light fixture... 98¢. The cost of the nut to replace on the angle grinder... $8.99. The cost of Randy's find... priceless. Quote
