Amber R. King-Southern Posted July 3, 2018 Author Report Posted July 3, 2018 Advice on how to turn this into a layered pattern Quote
jerry1939 Posted July 3, 2018 Report Posted July 3, 2018 Hi Amber. I think that you posted your own pattern. Print as many copies as you want layers. Cut one copy of each color. A trick I learned; Your picture shows birds not attached. Save the "scrap" that you cut those out of. For gluing, I prop that scrap up on craft sticks. Apply glue to the birds & drop them into the scrap for positioning. This method has much more merit when aligning individual letters for gluing. jerry Amber R. King-Southern 1 Quote
jerry1939 Posted July 3, 2018 Report Posted July 3, 2018 Would add to my above posting.: a. For the top layer, scribble the lines that will be cut for a lower layer, or preferably; b. Use a yellow highlighter to mark what you want to cut for the top layer. Lay the cut top layer onto what will be the 2nd layer & draw around all the interior cuts that you made in layer one. Use your highlighter on the lines you drew from layer one. Cut that, plus other interior cuts for layer two. If there is layer three, repeat drawing around layer two onto layer three. Let the pattern on the "top" layer. After the interior cuts have been made on all the layers, glue them together & saw the perimeter. Certainly hope that you can understand what I am trying to suggest. I sure as heck can't !!!!!!! jerry Amber R. King-Southern 1 Quote

Birchbark Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Silhouette, like this, would be my suggestion as well. Next, make the backer like this, IMO. Russell Quote
Amber R. King-Southern Posted July 11, 2018 Author Report Posted July 11, 2018 That’s cool. I’m still eraseing my first layer. Very time consuming Quote
Birchbark Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 The next layer is the lighter color, like this, then the slightly darker one, then the black.... Yes very time consuming. Russell Quote
Amber R. King-Southern Posted July 11, 2018 Author Report Posted July 11, 2018 I would have thought his smile would have been with the rest of him. Quote
Birchbark Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 There are three layers of trees in the smile i thought.? IDK. lol. It's your pattern. Make it the way you think is best. Nobody will know the difference. Russell Quote
Birchbark Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Looking at it again, there are only two layers of trees, then the characters and the actual smile on the top layer, but like i said, make it anyway you want it. Russell Quote
Amber R. King-Southern Posted July 11, 2018 Author Report Posted July 11, 2018 There is. I was thinking black one pattern. Dark gray one pattern light gray one pattern then the yellow with the bats one pattern Quote
Amber R. King-Southern Posted July 11, 2018 Author Report Posted July 11, 2018 I could be wrong. I’ve never made a pattern before Quote
Birchbark Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 If you've never made a pattern, you're starting with one that very few do... best of luck to you. Post a picture for us. Russell Quote
