amazingkevin Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 I need help.Where we live is 8 apartments.we live less than 100 feet from a school.3 years jail mandatory for drug use or sales within 100 feet of a school .5 of 8 apts use drugs and 2 sell. This is not a shabby neighborhood.5 apts have dogs. We have a community pool and they swim with their dogs in the pool. The dog urine smell is atroshous at times . They poop and pee where ever they like. it will stay there for days and nobody rinses down the pee. This is not the dogs bathroom. The kids pee on the fence inside the fenced in pool area. The dopers won't move out of you way so you can go up the stairs. They are so loaded that their eyes are hanging out of the head.the landlord told them to cease once but they never stopped.we are tired of moving.Any ideas would help. They wash and dry their clothes and leave them in the machine for days and left a sign do,not touch my clothes and leave there apt # to come see them if we have a problem. They throw trash anywhere, leave their cigarrette butts on the stairs sidewalks and fill the planters up with them .leave therir garbage outside their door and hang clothes on the railings. party all night and fight and hollar and bounce basketballs off the walls into the wee hours. Can you believe this .nobody cares.Does'nt the landlord have an apligation to provide a safe place for you to live.I don't want to throw stones, blow the whistle but come on. Ive been waiting for them to hang their own self but in 3 years it has'nt happened yet.You should hear the language too! Quote
WigWag Workshop Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Don't want to be a downer, but I doubt there is anything you can do, at least not anonymously. You are the odd man out, and if the cops come around, most likely they will know it was you that called them. Sorry to hear about your situation, hopefully someone will chime in, and offer some advice. Quote
amazingkevin Posted November 10, 2010 Author Report Posted November 10, 2010 thanks steven that's why i wait for them to hang their own self.We moved here out of shear blessings and it's been hell. this is the best neighbor hood i've ever been in ..But a few bad apples ruin it for every body. the old landlord is the cause of this mess as his daughter is married to the dirt bag that's the root of all the problems. The health dept.could care less either.nobody cares anymore. Quote
Huntter2022 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Kevin , You could move , For the other , for the drugs and the garabage dog poop .Thats a health hazard and can be taken care of by the health department If one person doesn't want to do anything then ask for a supervisor and you will see how much can be done. some times a letter to a senator or mayor will go a long way I have been lucky with dealing with a slum landlord across from me . I was nice at 1st and said hey the garabage is blowing in my yard. He basicly told me he could do nothing I took pictures and gave it to the town zoning officer one day while having coffee with him. Well now he has a bigger dumpster and it is concealed . He don't speak to me any more but he has started cleaning the place up .For a few druggy that were there has moved or been arrested . Wonder if it is because a police car sits in my driveway ever now and then . They are friends that stop by for coffee or just to say hi Kevin my best advice I would say is move if you don't want to turn them in other wise you will have to deal with it Quote
amazingkevin Posted November 10, 2010 Author Report Posted November 10, 2010 thanks hunter .Were tired of moveing .I'm just waiting for lightning to strike someday.I have enough problems without stiring up worse ones.I have made everybody countless scrool works here and am on a friendly atmospher.the ones that moved out were the worst.,broke my windsheil put half a busted heinakn beer bottle under my tire . leave the same thing on the stairs. He's gone. most of the problems went with him but there's one rat left and his friends.I did names, dog portraits ,card puzzles, portraits, keychains on and on for all of them and the one that got the most did me wrong when my backs turned. He was the main dealer.Maybe he wanted me to move ,i never thought about that ,then his turf is wide open with no watchfull eyes. This feels good to vent thanks. Lastchance Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Sorry to hear of the challanges that you are facing. Maybe the following will help a bit. When dealing with the city or health depatment, always remember the golden rule. The squeakest wheel gets all the grease. Bosses do not like hearing the same complaints over and over and over again. Sooner or later, they will send someone out to fix the problem. Make sure your complaints are factual and open ended. Comments like "this place sucks" or "everyone is a drug dealer" will not get as much attention as "the guy in 203 is dealing drugs to the 13 year old in 304" or "the pool lights are not working at night" which creates a health and safety code violation. Always escalate to the next highest level if nothing happens. Pool inspectors, health inspectors and the city can help, but you will have to get their attention first. Chance PS I have found myself in some pretty bad spots before and I usually measure the effort to try and correct it vs the effort to just move on. I do not know what situation you are in, nor do I know how hardheaded you can be. This could be a long, drawn out, emotionaly draining effort with very little on the upside for you in the long run. Apartment living sucks because you never know whats going to move in next. Quote
amazingkevin Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 interesting though on the pool light .It was out for quit along time and very dark around there. the wife leaves in5:30 in the morning and i cringe for her to walk into a dark area of unknown. The land lord heard about it many times and did nothing. One day i was out side and there was a guy w/a clip board takeing notes i asked if he was such and such he said no he's from the insuance company.I pointed out thinks and he said they have to fix the light post haste.Good boy ..I told him about our ac never worked and the fridge freezes the eggs and milk and water and anything else in it .Said he'd tell the landlord ,still waiting,I did alot of repairs knowing he would not do a thing. No shower head, bath sink faucet leaks from under the faucet ,i put a new one .the gabage disposal is burnt out and water will not go down .so i discontinued the disposal and re piped the drain to work.dish washer does'nt work roof leaks3 places.door locks are out of alignment etc. i did alot .the building and apt is real nice ,upscale and i could'nt do better finding a decent place so were staying .lots of annoiances. The poop problem needs to go .NOW!The humaine society does nothing . there is a leash law and a poop law that you have to pick it up .everybody says their dog did'nt do it .You can't win.i know who poop is who's by sight and location but prove it with be problems.5 of 9 apts have dogs.If the dog is on a leash you would know if it poops or pees.I tryed black pepper and moth balls in their favorite locations ,but that did'nt change things. Dan Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I agree with Chance. If you complain to the cops/health deparment enough, they'll get tired of hearing it and take a look. Also, if there are children in any of the apartments, call social services. I think the apartment owners are a part of the problem. I wouldn't doubt if they could be getting hush money. If you want to drive the dogs nuts, take some bacon grease or steak drippings and put it outside their door. Just kidding, but it really does drive them crazy. I hope you can figure it out. If you do end up moving, you may want to visit your neighbors before you sign a lease. If you have any second thoughts about the place, just leave and keep looking. Dan Quote
