Popular Post savethebeer Posted April 14, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted April 14, 2020 Its been a few weeks since I was in the shop and its very confusing. As i mentioned ages ago, my Ex21 seized and did not restart again. So I used the enforced stoppage as an excuse to do some decorating till I ran out of paint. Then the lockdown started and my shift pattern in work changed as they had me covering crew shortages. Then I made a new house sign for my Brother using a router, which was very interesting and fun. I will definitely make some more signs for the Grandkids and others. Yesterday I started using my old Scheppach 16 INCH, after it being under my bench for about 5 years. I found it fun to be back scrolling and felt an immense relaxation to be doing what I love . Having the tension lever at the back of the machine was a bit of a stretch but I am managing OK. The blade changing is slightly slower that the EX. The lower bracket requires a hex key whilst the upper one is toolless. What I really noticed is I am working much slower with this saw than with my EX. It is pleasant to be moving through the pattern at a slower pace, but what is most suprising is how long my blades are lasting. I think I was used to stack cutting with my EX and I was more intent on the production line whereas now I'm in relaxed mode and not putting my blade under so much pressure. The biggest problem I've had for these two days is the amount of time I've tripped or caught my foot as I move about the shop. Its been so long since I lived in the shop that I've forgotten how to navigate the shop floor. I've spent the past two days moving shelves and presses around, in my mind, in an effort to come up with a better layout. WayneMahler, amazingkevin, wombatie and 7 others 10 Quote
Hawk Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 Nothing better than returning to your "roots" and rediscovering when you fell in love with back in the day. I also agree with you on the better layout. Seems like my small, basement shop is always under rearrangement trying to find that optimal set up. Been at it 4 years now, still not there. Good luck finding yours!!! And enjoy the "good ol days" on your saw... Chris Crosstimbers 1 Quote
Crosstimbers Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 It's a good thing you held on to that old saw. I'd be up a creek if mine quit since I gave my old saw to my son. Just don't have space for two saws. amazingkevin 1 Quote

WayneMahler Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 Glad to hear your back to scrolling . It is relaxing and fun, even though I do mine for business. Enjoy the time you get and stay safe and healthy . Quote
