So I hadn't done much sawdust making since my 4 year old EX 21 gave up months ago, so I figured I needed a new one. I had some vouchers nearing their lifespan so I added in €150 of my own money and got myself a new Ex21. I started to use it yesterday and its just such a relief to be back at it.

This saw comes with genuine Pegas blade clamps, not the generic clamps as on the last one. It also needed not a single thing adjusted, almost without vibration from the start. It also has that stupid plastic membrane under the table which will be gone by tomorrow.

My only query is re the complinentary blades. I got 2 clear bags of 3 plus the blade already in the machine, all identical. I've just done a Steve Good Nautilus pattern in 9mm bbp. For the spinning pieces I stack cut the two at the same time. Pictured is one off cut, no fuzzies on front or rear, no burning. I am so impressed. It also flew through the rest of it so easily. Total cutting time about 80 minutes.

Whilst the photo is not really showing too much detail, these blades are far more agressive than anything that I've used from Pegas, which is the only blade I can really get here in Ireland. These blade shanks are also wider than any blade I've seen till now with both ends sharply angled.

Anyone know offhand what blade this is?

Nice to hear that you are back cutting. The saw sounds like it's just what you wanted, don't know anything about the blades though.

Enjoy your new toy for many years !!

In my experience with different blade styles and brands. That blade in the picture looks to me like a Olsen PGT double skip tooth blade.. I've used those blades plenty of times and they are a really nice blades. I actually like the PGT reverse tooth better but they are hard to find locally and I rarely order them.. The down side to these blades for me is... the smallest size is a number 5.. and.. the larger ends require a larger hole then the actual teeth portion of the blade so real fine detail stuff sometimes isn't doable with them.. If they made a number 3 and the ends more closer to the teeth portion in size they could possibly be my go to blade..

G'day Bob.
Congrats on your new machine mate. A great bonus coming complete with the Pegas clamps. Well done.
As for blades, I get mine from "Wooden Teddy Bear". They are so much cheaper than what's available in Australia that I order them by the gross and after accounting for our lousy dollar and postage I still come out way in front. They are super quick and efficient. I usually get a mixed lot including both the Flying Dutchman and Olson blades. The Olsons are, I think" the ones you have.
Have look and see what you think
Cheers

Thanks guys.

Kevin. When I saw the size of the teeth I though I might have that trouble but it manages tight corners so far, including the 18mm stack cut.

John, interesting site. I love the additional line with the Multi Packs; 'Includes a pouch'. There is a postal company here that sets up British or American addresses and that way you are buying products that will be freepost to a domestic address in that country, and then the postal company sends the item to your home address in Ireland so I will look into the prices.

Brenda, I have Daughters and Grand Daughters due shortly, and if they called off the visit till next week due to the slight rain we're having I would not really mind because I'd be straight out to the shop, however I think we'll be on the beach for an hour or two. I have warned Matilda, aged 4, that she is not to break my sandcastles and all I got was a dirty laugh .................

Yeah the blades do cut very nicely.. I may have to place a order for some of the #5's .. what I was referring to was fine detail lines where you just need a fine line.. the kerf is nice but the hole required to get those big ends through sticks out like a sore thumb.. Other than those fine type lines.. these blades are awesome.. I do wish they'd make a smaller size.. like a #3 While I do use a good amount of number 5's.. I do use more #3's..

I'm betting you don't even get a completed sand castle before one gets destroyed.. 😂 While I look forward to grandchildren someday.. I hope it doesn't happen until our world is over these trying times..
