well today im taking a little break from my crafting for a little while.  Last week we stoped at the hospic thrift store after my drs appoment and i found a wounderful wooden rocking chair!  And it only cost me 18.00 dollars.  i was so excited and told spike i wanted to get it....welll since i already have a wooden rocking chair he wasnt to keen on the idea.  I do love my old rocking chair but it is not really comfortable for me any more... even with the seat and back pillows i made for it.  Now when we got it i was pg with my oldest son. My ex husband bought it for me so i could rock my baby to sleep....and of course it had just a lovely little creek when i rocked.  Just perfect for a young mother. I used that old rocking chair to rock all 3 of my children when they were babies and as they grew older it sat in the corner of there bedroom as mommys reading chair.  The kids always knew if they played with it mommy would take it out and story time would be a lot shorter lol.... So during the day my 2 daughters put there favorit dolly and teddybear to sit when they werent playing with them.  At bedtime teddy and dolly got in bed with there mommies and listend while i read to them and that creek still helpped to put them to sleep. i did read to my son when he was younger to but his pet monster sat in it during the day. lol  I do love that old chair....but it was gotten to help me stay awake with my babies lol i never sat in it for very long.  and i will miss it to..but im giving the old one to my son John for christmass. not sure if i'll leave the seat and back cousions on it or not as it was made from an old snuggle up i used to wrap myself and john in when he was a baby...such a loving memory. im thinking i'll take the two and make it into the seat cousion for my new rocker as this one has flat slates for the back instead of the round dowl type the old one has.   now you might wounder just what im doing to the rocker if its so perfect.  Well im or actualy mostly spike is painting it black.  I dont know where it came from but it was painted pink and purple! lol and it did look nice but dosnt really fit in a house with 2 old people lol now if the kids were still little id of left it....also my oldest daughters favorit color is purple and my youngest daughters favorit color is pink lol  with it painted black maybe they wont fight over who gets it when i die. lol i took a picture of it before being painted and ll take another picture of it after its all painted.  I intend to carve a dragon at the top of the back but first i have to find a way to put the pattern on it.   carbon paper lines dont show up on purple or black....i figure i could use my dress makers white pencle to put the pattern on it....but since i cant draw i have to figure out some way to transfer a pattern onto the wood.   I carved the top of the old oneto but i just carved out the printed design that was painted on it. IF i ever get the pattern on wood not sure if i should just leave the carved part the color of the wood or paint it....but there i go putting the cart before the horse again lol first lets just get it painted!!! pictures will follow when the paintings all done i'll put one up of the old rocker to...sentamentle me i need at least a picture of my old rocker if i cant keep both of them!!! lol
