I messaged this person as I've seen it on here before.. maybe a couple months back.. I was curious why it hasn't sold.. or if it was a scammer.. I only messaged and asked about shipping just to see if they might be willing.. They replied back very quickly and just said shipping would be very expensive.. Hmmm.. How much is the saw worth.. I may say that I'd be willing to buy if they can ship for $150..  Rough looking saw so is it worth $300 shipped, LOL.. I'm not sure.. Someone local should check it out.. I don't need it but I do want to get a Hegner just to toy with.. I sometimes see them for $300 - 700 locally.. but haven't seen one in a while.. I prefer to look in person to buy something but this is kind of tempting.. LOL

Kevin, just as a matter of information, if you buy an 18" Hegner without the rear (by you) tension release on it, it will cost $180 plus tax and shipping to upgrade it. I've been watching one too but it's still too high for me. If I can pick it up for what I feel it's worth, I'll upgrade it. I'm also watching one that has the quick release on it and they are asking $300. I've offered $250 because it's quite a drive to get it but so far, no go.

That one, after looking at it, is missing a few things. Nothing too important but still not all there. At $150, I'd pick it up if not too far but it's way too far for me. That's not a bad deal at all as Rockytime said.

Well unfortunately it's not close by.. the guy seems willing to ship but says it'd be very expensive to ship.. I understand that part.. probably 100 - 150 to ship it.. so I'd be $300 or so into this one.. Just not sure it's worth it.. and I'm not a huge fan of buying without seeing it in person and see it run and do a trial cut on it.. The price is great for someone close to it.. provided it works as said.. They show up from time to time local to me for $300-500 every now and then.. I'll keep waiting I think..

Yeah I knew of the adapter / upgrade for the tension thing.. I'm not even looking for that old of a saw because to me it would be a issue having to reach to the back of the saw to release tension.. I do mostly fretwork cutting.. If I was doing another style of cutting mostly I'd consider it.. but I couldn't get along with reaching back there like that.. I haven't had a say with the release back at the back like that since about 2006..

There are 2 different types of quick release for the Hegners. The one I'm talking about has the lever right in front of you as you can see in the picture of that saw. The one is at the rear and it's flip lever that takes the tension off back there. The upgrade for $180 is for a whole new upper arm with the tension release assembly with it. Just to clear that up.

Okay thanks, I didn't know they had one for the front, I'll check it out..
