Ouch.

Did manage to get a little bit of scrolling in this weekend, but not a lot.  TONS of sawdust, though, ripping down 2x8x8's to make a new outdoor tortoise enclosure.  Front and back are put together, still got to do some small amount of geometry (yeah, I'm gonna Google it...) to get some lengths for the lid, then cover everything with chicken wire and some corrugated roofing on part of the top, add a door and hinges on the lid, carry pieces to the back yard and assemble......

Also, we took the plunge on a pair of kayaks this weekend.  We'd been talking about them for a while, and prices met up with funds, so we went ahead.   Have to store them somewhere, right?  They fit perfectly above the garage door, with enough clearance that the door opens/closes with no problems, and space between them for a third shelf to hold paddles/lifejackets.  Felt good to be back on the water again, even if it was just an hour splishing around a small city park pond.

Finally done*.  Tortoise-approved.  It hit 100F outside today, pretty sure it was nudging that number yesterday.  I'm wiped out, but happy to have this behind me and ready to get back to smaller, more detailed scrolling.  Had a 2 1/2" screw hit a dense piece of wood early last week, and the drill with the Phillips bit in it jumped off the screw head....and straight into my off-hand index finger.  Gotta say, that did NOT feel good.  Happened fast enough that the bit stopped spinning INSIDE the meaty part of my finger, narrowly missing bone thankfully.  Bled pretty good until I was able to get across the garage to my roll of paper towels (Working-Man's Band-Aid) and get some pressure on it.  Throbbed for the next day or so, but its fine and will probably leave a pretty nice reminder for me to keep my d*mn hands out of the way.  LOL

Changes were made on the fly, I had originally intended for the entire lid, corrugated and wire sections, to hinge up on the back and prop open, until the wife saw yet another Pinterest photo that she liked and asked for the articulated half-opening lid.  So there are two tortoise-friendly doors on the front (that had to be rebuilt with future size increases in mind), and a top opening that allows for human entry.  Still need to add a bit of trim around the edges where unfriendly wire screen edges have a tendency to grab clothing and poke anything that comes near, I'll have a couple of drawer pull handles added to the trim once its installed to make lifting the lid easier.

Nugget (tortoise) is in the shady area to the left, on top of the bark, exploring and seeming a bit miffed that she can't get out to the rest of the yard.

*until the wife decides on yet MORE "improvements"
