Fontesfamily Posted November 6, 2022 Report Posted November 6, 2022 I'm looking at getting this scroll saw for my husband. It is $350. I think that is a good deal from what I have been researching, but the daughter is selling it for her father and doesn't know how old it is. I can't find that information online, so I am hoping someone here can help me. My other option is to buy a new Dewalt 20". Which would be better? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted November 6, 2022 Report Posted November 6, 2022 (edited) It's a Hawk 226VS Ultra based on the holes in the upper accessory arm.. I can't break down exact year by the serial number but Bushton MFG can if you give them a call. I can say that the Ultra was made from 1995-2005.. based on the lack of a flexible line air tube for the blower I would say it's pre- 1998.. I have a 1998 year of this saw that was bought new and it came with the flex line.. Definitely a better saw than a Dewalt.. Ask about more blade holders for the lower blade clamp.. extras are a bonus.. not much goes wrong with these saws and most all parts are still available from the manufacture ( Bushton MFG. ) Edit: My serial number is 102090 and is a late 1998 model.. It was purchased in late December 1998 according to the receipt in the box. I'm not the original buyer but bought from original buyer in 2015 and it was still sealed in original box. That's the only reason I know this stuff, LOL Edited November 6, 2022 by kmmcrafts OCtoolguy 1 Quote
