Frank Pellow Posted October 23, 2024 Author Report Posted October 23, 2024 'Return to the Northland' Update #1 Well, that did not work out very well! I used 6mm thick plywood rather than the 3mm thick ply that I used for ‘I Long for the Northland’. I thought that the thicker panel would make it more difficult for me to go off-track when cutting. That turned out to be true. But I ran into a problem. The thicker panel is too heavy for me to hold up with one hand while threading the saw blade up through the hole from below. In cutting 21 letters, I broke about 20 blades: Only one blade was broken while cutting. All the rest were broken while attempting to bottom-feed. I gave up with the heavy panel and glued the revised pattern to a 3mm thick Baltic Birch plywood panel. I also took the opportunity to tweak the wording of the poem. I've done a bit of cutting and, so far, have not broken any blades OCtoolguy and Scrappile 1 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted October 24, 2024 Report Posted October 24, 2024 I'm happy to see you back Frank. I will also look forward to seeing your progress. I've not yet attempted anything with spirals but I have ornate pattern for a lamp that I may try using them. Frank Pellow 1 Quote
