Hi Malc glad to see your going through a bonding session with your new saw treat her like a lady and she won't let you down, Why not get a adjustable stool there a lot easier to adjust plus try tipping the saw towards you so that you are looking down at your work and get a load of cheep wood and just cut at different speeds, with the grain, against the grain, straight lines , circles , you will soon learn what she can do..........Paul

  9. Hi Malc, Its hard to get in small quantities without paying the earth. If there is a cabinet makers near bye you may be able to get there off cuts for free also I get old furnishings, sideboards and wardrobes, recyling centres and carboots at the end of the day are prety good places for old furnishing. Ebay but not so cheep........Paul

Hi, No the color is ok if you let dry and apply top coat with a brush (do not use a cloth to apply top coat) has for streaking it doese on large pieces but if you rub it with a soft cloth straight away the streaks blend in....Paul Really!? Wow. I would have never thought of that. That's a great idea. Now you got my wheels turning. Hmmm....I wonder if other markers would work well. Did the color run or bleed at all when you added your topcoat finish? Did the marker go on evenly without streaks?
  13. Thanks Travis, The box is finnished with Danish oil and the Intarsia is colored with (sorry to say) Highlighter pens and stain then covered with danish oil.......Paul
  14. This is the box I ended up with, I saw Mikes WIP and I thought I would give one a go, there are a few things I would do differently but on the all its not to bad.........Paul

Hi Tony and welcome to the Village, there are a good few members from the uk and have a chat on thursday nights 2100gmt, if you have any questions just fire away they are a great lot in the Village and will help you anyway they can, All I do to download a pattern is right click it and select save as, then put it where you want to save it to, thats it. Looking forward to seeing your first cutting with your new saw, (what type is it)...........Paul

  25. Wow Carlos that is great if it was mine I would leave the shadowed areas dull and polish the highlights, A thick frame and a velvet backer . once again great job .........Paul
