  1. I mainly use GIMP. I'm not very good with computer programs but I think I've figured out how to make use of your suggestion. Thanks for the help!
  2. When making a pattern from a photo, there are often many dropout areas that must be manually identified for bridging. This can often be a time consuming endeavor. I was wondering if there are any software programs or apps currently available that are able to identify these areas automatically. If so, how do they work? Any help would be deeply appreciated.
  3. I think I've got my answer. Thanks to all of you for your advice! It's deeply appreciated!!
  4. In reply to bobscroll's request for an image to get a better idea of what I mean, I've attached an example of an Alfred, Lord Tennyson quote that I was thinking of scrolling onto a plaque and giving to my wife for Valentine's Day. I've typed out the saying in Monotype Corsiva font but, if I tried to cut the letters as shown, the a's; the d's, the e's; etc would fall apart without the insertion of a space to hold the letters together. Up to now, I've been doing that manually. So I was wondering if anyone knew how to create a scroll friendly mono corsiv type font that could be downloaded to a computer's list of fonts and used to print mono corsiv letters that could be cut on the scroll saw without manual intervention. If I Had A flower .doc
  5. I sometimes like to make plaques using the Monotype Corsiva font. In order to keep some of the letters from falling apart while scrolling, I have been manually using "white out" to create brakes in these letters. Is there anyone out there who has ever run across or could create a Mono Corsiv type of font specifically for use by scrollers which I and other scrollers could download into their family of existing fonts?
  6. Chris, Thanks for your help on converting my photograph of Abby to a jpg format. I deeply appreciate your help and kindness. Bill
  7. On 2/2/11, I tried posting a photo of my niece's dog Abby on the Pattern Requests Forum but was informed that the photo was not attached when others tried to view it. I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me figure out what I am doing wrong. When I click on the item that I posted, I can see Abby's picture as an attachment and it appears on my screen (through the use of something called "QuickTime") when I click on it. The picture attachment itself is called a "TIFF Image" - if that's any help and I attached it from the Documents section of my computer. I'm not very good with computers, and this is the first time I've tried to do something like this so any assistance that anyone could give me to get it right would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help. Bill
