  3. Hi Guys. Is there any Delta buffs out there..One of my Delta 2 speed motors has died. I have picked up a motor on fleabay. It has same speeds but there are to many wires. The dead motor has two looms with red..black3..white6..the other haswhite4..black1..earth. The replacement has 2 looms blue ..earth..white..brown..black.the other has blue..white.. black and brown...It also has a bulge on side of motor. does anyone know if it is possible to use this motor,or what model it is off so i can put it back on fleabay. Thanks very much in anticipation Jim
  4. Hi.Everyone. I have not been on SSV for several months as had an illness that prevented me scrolling and I sold my saws thinking that was the end. But I have fully recovered, but not having a saw was driving me mad.I bought another axminster awfs18.wich I had for 3 years before with no probs..This one has been a nightmare had it 3 weeks and have had to get axminster to send me 2 lots of tension assembly and then third one completely fell appart.I have now sent saw back for refund. I am now looking at getting Delta 460 694 from USA. Can anyone tell me what wattage It draws as I have to get a stepdown transformer. And also is it easy to get spares in the states for it as I will have no warrenty. Thanks alot Jim
  5. Hi. I posted a few months ago that I was going to purchase a hegner saw, well I got two off fleabay. The first was multicut 1 the second was a multicut 2se.compared to my excalibur both were noisy and to much vibration for my work the multicut 2 was hardly used like new.was not impressed after all the hype I had heard,so I put them both back on fleabay and made a small profit. After reading all the reviews about the axminster awfs18 I bought one just less than £400. Very quiet and hardly any vibration I think due to the extra weight. I noticed there was a bit of side movement on top arm and watching the tension spring it seemed to oscilate.I purchased a hegner Zig Zag spring and when this was fitted no movement at all. I have also fitted hegner clamps includeing the quick top clamp and upgraded this with mikes lever(this is the best thing since sliced bread for old fingers). And noticed the front tension lever did not work as well as the hegners the rollers are very soft and tend to restrict the movement, changed these for hegner part and works like dream now. I now think I have the best saw you can get in the UK mutch better than hegner and a lot cheaper. I will stop looking now because I dont think I can better this. Happy scrolling Jim
  6. Hi everyone. I have not been on site for 6 months packed up scrolling, but have tried boat modeling and pyrography but they dont float my boat. I kept my old 450 delta 15 yrs old. But sold my excalibur. I am starting again and have to get a saw. I see they are advertising DeWalt 788 on fleabay and this got me very exited untill. £570.00 gbp 710 us.but add on VAT when it enters UK and there is no service back up and no item guarantee.. So please UK scrollers be aware...not for me as there is a nice hegner on fleabay hopeing for that. Keep on scrolling Yours Jim
  7. As most excalibur owners will know the grub screws keep coming loose, they can be a real pain. I have come across a very cheap solution while trawling the web and it works "NAIL VARNISH". Take out the screw dab some nail varnish on it replace.I have done this and have had over 70hrs cutting and it works a dream. By the way I use shocking pink but then it suits me. Hope this cuts down on some of the frustration Cheers Jim

Everything i have had has been great and reasonably priced. And always Fast delivery. Check them out. Enjoy your scrolling and this great site. Jim ][/b]
  9. Hi You have same prob as everyone, the grub screw opp clamp screw is loose. take blade out and tighten clamp.then tighten clamp screw up this should fix it. I take mine out and fit back with loctite this seems to work. Nice to have another UK scroller on board. I have had my ex21 for about eight months now and it is a high maintenance saw. if you have anymore probs drop me an e mail. oldscroller@hotmail .co.uk. Enjoy Jim
  10. I would like to point scrollers to a you tube video called scroll saw pattern transfer made easy. It is brilliant..No more messing about with glue decoraters tape rubber cement packing tape. It takes ages to remove all this rubbish after cutting and breaking narrow bridges. I have tried it and it works a treat, lovely clean lines, and no more pattern lifting while cutting. It does have an initial outlay but if you do a lot of work it is well worth while. Last week I bought a Samsung black&white laser printer from Currys/pc world for £39.99 and xzylene on ebay for £3.50 I love it. Yours Jim
  11. Hi Marge I love it.some teething troubles but without a dought the best saw i have ever used. Last saw was Hegner multicut and an old Delta 450 that i still use. another prob that i cant do much about is the table not having any bevel on the edge, the slightest thing catches when moving workpiece. But I still love it Great saw. Yours Jim
  12. Thanks Geoff. I have just looked it up on axminster site and have ordered it it is where I purchased the saw. by the way I am in uk as well. northampton. I have had a few other probs with ex21 but not serious . If you have any other probs just let me know on oldscroller@hotmail.co.uk Cheers Jim
  13. I have always thought that Rapid Resizer was a bit expensive, after trying the free trial. But now it is online and you can use unlimited for a yearly subscription of 8gbp, witch is pretty good. But be aware the browse scrollsaw pattern sites. As several of these try to load trogens. Yours Jim
  14. Hi Geoff Have had same prob with mine which I have had for 6 months. I seem to have cured it by making sure the grub screw on opposite side to the clamp screw is kept tight,as it seems keep coming loose. Also I hate the clamp screws, you have to take pliers to them sometimes as they stick. Steve Good has a good Idear for these ve made them and they work a treat. Hope this helps. Best of luck and have a happy Thanksgiving Jim
  15. Hi Buying good blades in uk is very expensive compared with the states, for olson blades Shesto sell blades for £4.60 and £2.99 p&p. Woodwork craft supplies £4.90 and a whopping £5.99 p&p. Hobbies seem to be the best buy. I get my blades from the states Mikes Workshop for flying dutchman and wooden teddybear co fo olson. They are half the price and the p&p seems to be about 3/5 pounds. And in my experiance delivery is aprox a week. Definately the real deal Yours Jim
  16. Hi clayton I love my ex21 also I have never used anything as good Jim
  17. Lovely job, looks nice and clean very well done Jim
  18. Hi Ives. I am also from uk. and have had several saws over the last 15 years. and I am a great believer in you get you pay for. It is not a bad thing to start with a lower end saw if only to appreciate a good saw when you get one. When I started I bought a delta 450 model for about £70 and I still have it allthough I use a excalibur ex 21 most of the time. You might be better sticking with the one you have got untill you get a bit more experiance, and know that you want to carry on solling. I agree with everyone else, there are some good saws to be found on ebay. best of luck Jim
  19. I have had excalbur ex21 for about 6 months,I dont think you need to use any protection allthough I treat mine with carnuba every couple of months. Enjoy your saw,Icertainly love mine I have had several saws over the last 15years but this is the tops. Yours Jim
