  1. Joey I built it without the lights, train whistle or pendulum. I just kept it simple. It seems to me I read somewhere that the lights and train sound were not synchronized. I did not like that idea. I did want to make the clock anyway. I think the lights and train sound should go on automatically on the hour. It also should have a on/off switch. Just my opinion. I really like the plan and am glad I made it. Everyone around here and folks that I have sent a picture have all complimented me on how it looks. Of course they are all my relatives and friends what else are they going to say. lol What means more is the kind words from strangers and fellow woodworker from forums like this one. Ben
  2. I finally finished the Train Depot Clock. http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q63 ... nDepot.jpg Ben
  3. Got most of my wood and have about 90% of the parts cut. I didn't order the lights or sound pkg. I'm thinking I may want to incorporate some type of recorded train whistle in the project. We'll see. Ben
  4. About 15 years ago or so I made musical animal banks. Some of these banks were very large almost 2 feet long and about 3 inches wide like my alligator bank for instance. You put a coin in them and they played various tunes. These were hign end banks finished and painted very well.. Really spent time on them. They were scrolled and primed by me and finished painted by my wife. We tried to get about $50.00 to $75.00 a piece. Finally had to get them down to about 30 to 40 bucks to sell them. Our costs for material were about 8 bucks ea. at that time. Eack took about 8 hours to finish and paint. You figure it our how much we made. Oh, and one other thing about 99% of the banks were sold to women. If your going to try and make money you must know your customer. Very hard business to make money. Do it as a hobby and any money you make is a bonus and you will be happy. Ben
  5. Hi everyone I'm thinking of building the train depot scroll saw clock plan (in the next month or so) from Wildwood Designs. It is quite large and elaborate and seems to have layered parts. Wondering if anyone here has any experience building it. Any info, tips or pics would be appreciated. Here's a link to the plan>>> http://www.wildwooddesigns.com/Train-De ... 62C29.aspx Thanks in advance. Ben
  6. Hi Everyone Haven't done a lot of scroll sawing I do mostly Intarsia. It's been kind of hit and miss through the years though. I have a RBI Hawk 20" that I purchased nearly 18 years ago (1994). It still hums along quite nicely. I have taken an interest in the silhouettes lately. I would like to learn how to take a photo and turn it into a scroll saw project. Glad to be aboard and hope to learn much. Ben
