  1. I wouldn't get a Porter Cable. They don't even fetch a good price on the used market. Your might look for a good used Ridgid. I picked up one for under $300 that was very lightly used. I think the owner used it on a few household projects. It even had the original box. The cutters are double sided and pretty inexpensive. A more expensive choice would be a used or new Dewalt.
  2. I like this picture frame clamp http://www.amazon.com/Rockler-Quick-Release-Corner-Framing-Clamp/dp/B001DT5LH4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1417517760&sr=8-6&keywords=picture+framing+clamp. They're available under lots of brand names. I've made big frames by buying more sections of 1/4-20 rod at Home Depot.
  3. Well, I just ordered a EX-21 on Sunday night. I got the same deal with free shipping. I was going to get a Dewalt 788, but I heard too many complaints. I decided to pay a bit more and get a saw that nobody complained about. Back to your question. I called Monday morning and the lines were busy. I left a voice mail for an approximate delivery date. I said email response was OK. I figured free delivery of a 88 lb package would be on the slow boat. A email showed up an hour later. My saw was on the truck Monday afternoon via UPS with a tracking number. Delivery is scheduled for Thursday!! That's service. Now I know why a lot of folks recommended them. A great first impression. I can't wait. This is my first scroll saw. I've already collected more patterns and videos than I can complete in 6 months!
