  1. Never mind -- I thing I figured it out. I selected the image and the did a path>trace bitmap which created a duplicate, one of which I could adjust the fill and stroke. Inkscape is pretty amazing for a free package
  2. I found some images I liked out on google and I've pulled them into my inkscape. They end up as a file type "png". My problem is that I cant convert them to a path. When I use the command "convert to path" it just says nothing was converted. If I leave them as png I cant change the fill or stroke. Any thoughts. When I imported the file I did it as an embed. Thanks Terry
  3. Thanks guys -- I've gotten it working. Trying to get a western theme font and 1001 seemed to have several I liked.
  4. I'm trying to add a new font to inkscape (I know there are already a bunch) from the web site "1001freefonts.com". I don't see a way to import them into inkscape. Help please Terry
  5. Don't you have a lows or Home depot around. Both sell dewalt products
  6. very COOL Fab4. Perfect. Just have to arrange the words backwards so it spirals from the outside in. Inkscape is so cool (and price is right). Going to now mess around with kerning to see if I can actually do this. Terry
  7. Thanks Guys, And Fab4 I tried that site you mentioned and it works about the same as inkscape, just fewer options. The problem now is how to get the letters in the spiral to touch the ones above so that it can be cut out. I think I'll have to make each letter an object then move them to the spiral manually. Still working it. Terry
  8. Tried it - its a good start, now just need to figure out how to get them all connected. -- messing around time.
  9. Thanks Bob -- give it a try right now.
  10. I want to create a pattern in inkscape that has the text in a spiral similar to the one in the spring edition of Scrollsaw woodworking magazine. I wrote to the author to see if perhaps he'd used inkscape but he hadn't. Are there any tutorials out there that demo this or do you guys have any thoughts. I've attached a pic of what im talking about. Terry
