  1. Dang it! This is a most disgusting bunch of posts. Hadn't thought about a laser printer. I have two ink jet printer and now (not my fault) I ended up ordering a laser printer. My wife wasn't much help. When I mentioned it to her she just told me to do whatever I want. Not much I can do about it now. It is a BrotherDCPL2550DW. B&W with scanner. $159 at Amazon. Hope I like it. There are free returns.
  2. The 2/0 is a bit smaller, very sharp and aggressive. I seldom cut anything greater than 1/2" mostly 1/8 to 1/4". My blade selection goes from 8/0 to #9 and don't ask me why. I haven't a clue. I never use bigger than #5.
  3. Someone here taught me to put a plastic drinking straw in the blade tube. Place the slightly used blade in the drinking straw to segregate it from new blades. Easy peasy!
  4. Oh boy! I love 2/0 blades. I buy them by the gross!
  5. The only way one can be dust free is collecting stamps or such.
  6. Went to Lowe's today for Poplar. Saw Hemlock and Alder. Never see that at HD. Did not buy any. Anyone use it?
  7. I hear ya.

Welcome to the Village Pete. Lots to do here. You're gonna love it!
  9. Hi Dan, Welcome to the Village. You'll meet lots of nice people and make new friends.
  10. Hi Thurman. Thanks for posting your question. Sound like your basic question is not so much about the noise problem but about dust collection. I would first of all place a Dust Deputy or small cyclone between the saw and the vacuum cleaner. Most vacuum cleaners will do a reasonable job. A Festool may be nice but not financially practical for many. So, we try to work with what is available. I also have the vacuum for one saw outside the room which helps with noise. The vacuum for the second saw is right behind the saw. I put up with the noise with hearing protection.
  11. I'm too old to be tech savvy but I'm anxious to see your shop and project photos.
  12. Very nice work!
  13. Beautifully done!
  14. Cute little fella! I like him.
  15. I have a notch in the back of the funnel and the blade clamp rides up and down without touching. The funnel is removed and replaced almost within the blink of an eye. It's ever so convenient. The vacuum is outside the wall reducing the noise substantially. I use no rigid plumbing just cpap hose. Very cheap on Amazon. Everything just slips together and held with zip ties. You may be correct about the plastic and static. I should check my aluminum cyclone. Both Hegners have the same DC set up. Both you guys have very nice and professional plumbing. I love that kind of stuff.
  16. If your scroll saw and belt sander are close I would just put a wye in the collection hose. The Oreck should handle it easily.
  17. I have a HF 13 gallon dust collector. Only use it on my lathe and router. You don't need a large DC foe scroll sawing. What do you want to use it for?
  18. Oops, funnel did not load.
  19. This is my pick up system. The top swings away and the bottom is a funnel held in place with a block of wood and 2 rare earth magnets. Just slide aside to change blades.
  20. I have quite a bit of loc-line but felt it was too restrictive. Looks cool but I don't use it.
  21. My little cyclone picks up top and bottom with a portable Oreck.
  22. I'm very curious about your cyclone. I have two of the small cyclones, the blue plastic one and the aluminum one. They work well. I see you have mounted your cyclone much the way a Dust Deputy is mounted. The narrow bottom is mounted with a flange unlike the small cyclones. How did you seal into the collection container? My cyclone is mounted into the collection container and works well. A bit of sawdust works its way into the vacuum cleaner. I think this is because my sawdust is so very fine as I usually cut with #2/0 and #1 blades. It's not enough for me to worry about. So I'm wondering if your cyclone mount may be more efficient since that is the way the Dust Deputy is mounted. Or, I wonder, if I used a much deeper container would make the little cyclone more efficient.
  23. What's wrong with your Hegner?
  24. That's cool. I had those as a kid. I wonder if that pattern is still available? Very nice work!
