  1. Thanks everyone for the input. I am planning on going to the wood carvers guild in Wilmington, Ohio in October and doing some research on what some of them are using. Very helpful to have a site with a lot of scroll saw veterans to get advise from. Thanks.
  2. I am currently using a craftsman 16" scroll saw. I like it because blades aren't that hard to change. But the cons out way everything else. There is a loud squeak when running, consistency isn't very good but vibration is the thing that is major problem. I am looking to try to get into craft shows, and make some money from it. I have always enjoyed working with wood. I am also into wood burning as a side project. I am looking at doing different sized projects. I was looking at spending around $500.
  3. So I am looking to upgrade my scroll saw and have been doing some research but still not sure on which saw to buy. I looked on you tube for suggestions and I have also looked on the internet itself. I am looking at the Dewalt 788 and Delta 694. Any suggestions?
  4. I own a 16" craftsman but it vibrates a lot. The work bench I have it attached to is old and was there when we bought our house. The whole wall vibrates when I am using my saw. I was planning on buy a new heavier work bench but don't want to waste my money if its not going to solve the problem.

So I was wondering what would be a good affordable saw that is reliable and does not vibrate horribly.

    Hello

Thanks you everyone for the warm welcome. I will take a lot of your advice to heart. My wife has a lot of projects lined up for me already. Wish me luck.

    Hello

Hello, I am from Cridersville, Ohio. I am just starting my interest in scroll sawing. I also enjoy doing wood burning. I am using a 16" craftsman scroll saw. I have practiced on a few pieces and now experiencing some problems. My scroll saw is squeaking loudly from the back where the tension adjustment is. Has anyone else noticed this with a craftsman saw? Any ideas on what it is or how to fix it? Thanks Rodney
