  1. I had posted some work in progress pictures a while ago. Now that Mother's Day is past and the gifts have been given, I can post the final. Each heart represents a city where a child lives. They are framed in shadow boxes from Michael's so there is a little glare off the glass. This was a collaborative effort with my wife, who owns almost as much scrapbooking stuff as I own woodworking stuff.
  2. I finally got the most recent copy of SSWC, and I'm a little confused by their review of the Jet. Since they have repeated their comments on their website forum, I will go ahead and say that the issue they had was that it could not accommodate thicker stock. I got a Jet earlier this year (courtesy of a VERY generous mother-in-law), and I have not run into the issues that they had - once I got the top arm adjusted parallel to the table, I could fit a full two inches under the blade without problems. Just barely, but it did fit.
  3. I like that! Thank you.
  4. Let me try this again...
  5. I'm working on Mothers Day gifts for my mother and my step-mother. I have a large family, with siblings across three different family groups. We are spread across the county, with me in California, sisters in Washington, Wisconsin, New York and Pennsylvania, and a brother in Wisconsin. I'm making each mother a plaque with the states that their children live in. So far, I have the states for one, and I'll be cutting the states for the second plaque this week. My plan is to put a heart in the location of each child. I want to include some sort of lettering, but I'm not sure what to say yet. Any suggestions would be welcome. The background on the photo is my kitchen table, but I'm considering doing a similar color for the plaque. The other option is decorative scrapbook paper from my wife's collection. Wisconsin is backwards in the picture. Fortunately it's not yet glued to anything, so all I have to do is flip it over.
