  1. Cedar would be a good option. Plan to paint the project either way. Just need to figure out where I could find some cedar plywood.
  2. I have an order for an outdoor sign of a chicken for their chicken coop. My first thought is use pressure treated plywood but then that will likely have holes in the layers that won't be best. Other option I can think of is using regular baltic birch plywood with an exterior primer paint applied. Have others done outside signs? What materials were used? Thanks in advance.
  3. Made presents for my parents this year. My mom loves black bears and my dad likes the 1950s trucks. The bear is a Steve Good pattern and the truck pattern I had help from one of the members here in the pattern request section.
  4. Finally finished the truck just in time for Christmas. Deviated from the pattern slightly for the phone stand part but the fenders and body worked perfectly. Thanks for the pattern help.
  5. Thanks. I feel like I'm getting better with each piece.
  6. He has been a harley rider the whole time I've known him. With a ton of memorabilia already. I made one for a cousin's boyfriend and he asked where was his. Now he will have one as well. Yes, each letter was cut separately painted then attached to the backer board. I used a vector of the logo that I blew up to be 2 feet wide. Where I work has access to a plotter printer.
  7. Finished this this past weekend. Second sign I've made. This one is for my uncle for Christmas.
  8. A rare selfie picture of me.
  9. Thank you. That looks like it would work. I will definitely post the finished project when completed. Jennifer
  10. I know that Discord would not be for everyone and not looking to replace the forum by any means. This is a wonderful platform. It would be doubling what is already here in some regards but just something fun to add to the group if there is interest. Completely understand about notifications at 2am in the morning, you can change settings so it doesn't notify you constantly.
  11. I haven't been here long but have enjoyed reading all the posts. Had a thought if anyone is interested or maybe its already been a thought. Would there be interest in creating a Discord chat server for the group? Discord is an instant messaging chat platform that is nice to quickly speak with people from all over the world. You can create many different rooms that can be used for pictures, general chat, questions, and more. There is also a voice chat feature if people are so inclined. This is not to take away from the forum group since this is a great way to browse for patterns and show off work to everyone. Just seeing if there is interest. Discord has a good computer program platform and a phone app. I'm still learning about discord myself but have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. Jennifer
  12. I'm making my Christmas presents as much as I can this year. Saving money and getting more scroll saw experience. I'm not the best at making patterns and would love for help or recommendations on how to modify a Steve Good pattern. I'm hoping to be able to add a 1950s style truck to the back instead of the guitar. Other ideas I've has it making a 3D truck that is a phone holder but haven't had the time to mess with my computer to see what I can do. I'm also still learning how to make scroll saw patterns. What I've done so far has been pre-made patterns or very minor modifications that I just overlay another pattern on top of. Steve Good phone holder pattern - http://www.stevedgood.com/smartphonestand.pdf Style of truck pictures attached. Found a phone stand idea I like if it can be modified to have the correct style and I can figure out how to make the phone stand not topple over from the phone. Would lover ideas/recommendations or whatever help I could get to make this idea possible. Thank you.
  13. This is a steve good pattern. Making a Christmas present for my mom. Still need to make backer board. Plan to have black for the bears then brown for the paw prints. Wood is stained with a mix of weathered oak and cypress.
  14. My dog is overall doing well but it will be a long battle for her depending on treatment options. Thank you. I didn't visit with my family for long in July. Unfortunately we were also meeting to grieve the death of a family member. I'm not very close with my extended family. I have seen the rest of my family much less this year than in previous. That is tough to not see your kids for that long. Hopefully things will get better for everyone and you can see your kids sooner. Facetime is nice but nothing like the in person.
  15. Thank you all for the warm welcome. I may not get on my computer often but once I can get the forum figured out on my phone I can be more active. Will work on posting more pictures of my work in the forums and being more active. Jennifer
